Opened mine just before I moved to London to keep in touch with friends back in Denmark. It's pretty useful for short chats while Skype is much better for longer talks and although it's obviously easy to get caught up in it I have no problem with having mine. I haven't really got a lot of stuff on there and I think my profile is secret or whatever so I guess schoolmates from 10 years back wont find me on there.
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
A place where people in the real world have few or no friends, but by simply joining up can create a mystical life for themselves. Ex school mates, aquaintances you used to hate, despise, distrust can become your virtual friend's. The sad man's good night out, eating drinking and socializing in cyber space.
Drinking on my own before 9am, this cyber world is bloody realistic
Hard work m8 get on the spirits it will soon become a blurrrrrrr
I really like it, I have mates all over the place because I've lived in a few varied places so it is really handy for keeping up to date with people.
It's nice to know what mates are up to on the other side of the world. Also it replaced the endless looking thorugh peoples holiday pics when they get back, you can flip through when you want and if you have any questions just ask.
I also think it's good for updates form shops etc as I often see pics of gear that I might otherwise not know about. It is also being used more and more for selling stuff by individuals, like the marketplace on here.
I find it usefull, i keep in touch with pals and family, it does come with its aguments though! The other end of it, it has caused no end of trouble, bullying etc for my eldest daughter at school, been a nightmare actually, im lucky my daughter tells me everything and one night a 16 year old lad threating to beat her up etc so he was a tad suprised as was his parents when i landed at his front door !!!!!! I think older adults its sound for keeping up with pals and family that are busy but for kids a big NO NO
Live life to the full and enjoy, try and help people who havn't got as much as you, you never know what tomorrow will bring!!!!
