Thought that we might push on abit this year, nothing great but considering the money we spent i think we should have been safe with a few games to spare. Rollercoaster season though, wins against Utd, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool and then wins in the local derbys against WBA, Brum, Villa and Stoke but then not getting results against the teams down by us. Said it all season that im not worried if we go down but after the win last weekend its in our own hands to stay up now and only ourselves to blame if we dont. IMO its been one of if not the most exciting Premiership season yet, yeah the quality hasnt been up there like usual even at the top of the table but the relegation fight going right to the wire and the title and european games only being sorted with a couple of games to go, its been a entertaining season.
This time last season , if anyone would of said to me that villa would of been in a relegation fight i would of laughed. Drastic changes in the summer saw us have a poor season. Hopefully next year things change. All the midland teams stay up and Forest come up . Making a few derbies throughout the season. As for winning the league , City and Chelsea will throw millions about to try and win the league. The league has been open this year , some results you wouldn't expect. With a couple of games to go there's all to play for and hopefully Stoke show today that money can't buy success.
Not been to a Bradford game for a couple of seasons now but follow thier (mis) fortunes, been a shit year and were lucky to avoid relegation and can't see it improving next year especially with the rumour that they'll be moving to the rugby ground to save money. Probably be another season i'll miss.
My team Villa have had a dreadful season. Started with the disaster of O'Neill walking out, Houllier has been a nightmare along with MacAllister. Lost to Birmingham,Albion and Wolves. We've gone from a top 6 side challenging for a Champions League spot to fighting ( well there's no fight there from our players ) in a relegation battle for most of the season. Darren Bent has been a good signing but this summer needs to be a summer of complete change, new manager and new players to replace obvious departures .
'Last place finishes, meager attendances (even in that new stadium), and boredom have been the hallmarks of the club under the Lerners'. Qoute from the book Bad Sports by the genius that is Dave Zirin talking about the Washington Nationals.
So don't expect things to improve anytime soon my friend!
Not the greatest season on the pitch but theres been some fantastic moments. Spectacular results, devestating loses and wild celebrations which untimately accumilated for nothing. But the memorys will live on. Off the pitch (not FV) its been a blinder, been going with some mates who started going again after short spells in exile and the banter has been spot on. Awaydays, euro trips, staying in the pub till the early hours, we've had some right laughs and thats what its all about. We all want to win trophys, but its not the be all and end all of following your team. I just wish it was a bit cheaper cos im borasic.
Never been so disinterested as I was this season. We'll finish top of the also-ran's as usual. Apart from getting to spend time with my eldest lad I could finally contemplate spewing it,which would have been unthinkable for me a couple of years ago. Looking forward to the Tour De France more than next season.
