Misses is on strike today, so was on the razz last night. Heard her mate puking up in our bathroom about 4am. But she's fit so I'll forgive her
Despite being a bit of a blue political-wise, I support the teacher strikes. The other council worker strikes I'm not happy with. I work with local councils and the amount of waste in them is criminal
I am a Trade Unionist and Labour Party supporter but I find it very hard to support people who are complaining about having to work until 67 and contribute more to their pensions just like the rest of us.I was at school in the 80's when the teachers last striked for pay and my final year at school was broken up by teacher walk outs. In my opinion different to the Miners and Printers strikes of the 80's where they had the support of the public as they were striking to save jobs now striking to save perks. How many teachers have not had a pay rise for 5 years or taken a 15% pay cut to keep their jobs? The public sector are now facing the cutbacks that we in the private sector have been hit with for the last 3 years.

i was at school in the 80s too - do they still call strike days 'baker days'? surely the issue is the private sector needs to be brought up to public sector levels. giving everyone a shit deal isnt the way. and there clearly is govt money for certain things, like bank bail-outs. i love the new 'scab lite' wretches with their hand wringing and 'i have the right to work' horse shit. they won't back the strikers but they'll take the better conditions that the strikers' actions have helped bring about. theres a strike at our work today but the turn out looks pathetic. i didnt cross a picket line, by the way. our office is a different bit.
at least they stick together! not like the rest of us in the private sector, i say about time........the goverment taking away the little perks etc...thats part of the package when you sign up for the job, and then they chiseal away at it! Teachers this day and age IMO have a very tough job with the way society is, i couldn't do it id end up sacked on my first day giving a cheeky pupil a slap. It makes me laugh the goverment put our retirement age up and what did the uk public do .FUCK ALL sat back and accepted it.......thats the problem

They go to university for a good few years to get the quals, and i think youll find there salaries as normal teachers arn't as good as you think. I think but not 100% a history teacher gets around £26,000 per year and dont forget they pay over on there pensions (more than a private sector pension payer). Also we need good teachers for the future of the country.......... This is the problem with our country we have turned into if it happens to us then it should happen to every one else. Most of us work for companies that rely on profits and if there arn't any profits then we get hit.... Teaching is a service and thats a massive difference.

Yes mate agree with when they start but after being in the job a while,we have friends who are teachers so know the salaries and believe me it certainly isnt the £26000,more in the 30s,i also went to uni for my quals too so do a number of millions people in this country and im sure we all have had perks in our job which have been removed for one thing and another.Just think they should look at whats going on in other sectors, imo its irrepsonsible to take it out on childrens education,a sure fire way to lose public support, how many parents have had to take time off and lose money/days holiday to cover,im sure they havent thought bout them..........

dont hide behind your kids cos you bend it over and take it off your boss. kids love the day off, i know i did. i defend your right to be a shithouse at work though. yes sir, no sir, take my pension sir, shine your shoes guvnah...
I support them. The public sector over the years has been paid less but the perk was the decent pension. Now to pay for the banking crash IMO the government wants to rip up the contract of the workers and take it away. Yes people will have to pay or work longer but that has to be agreed and not imposed. The government should lead by example and cut MP's pensions and perks before they start gobbing off at the rest. The cuts that are being forced onto the public sector now are massive and this with the pensions is taking the piss. We can all slag off the public sector but we all use the many services they provide and soon those services will not be there at all and the private sector will run them. Any one actually think that will be better and of course you will be charged extra for those service's

get everyone down to serf level, that appears to be what some want.
Its time we adopted the Australian pension scheme, where everyone who works put a percentage of their wages into a pension, there-fore there is no "them and us"(public and private sectors), and everyone has a decent retirement. As for the strike, if negotiations break down, then its the only way, although the general public are nt always sympathetic when they too have to take an unscheduled day off(probably losing a days pay as well) I think that anyone who has served over say,15 years, should keep their benefits, and anyone below that should have new contracts written, because normally imo, people work in the public sector, accept the lower wages, because they can afford to, otherwise they d get a higher paying job and take out a personal pension.......

aye, we're all picking and choosing jobs these days. i think i'll take less money. behave yourself. this is an agreement that's been broken. if the govt started properly taxing the massive PRIVATE companies who have been dicking the rest of us for years this wouldn't be an issue. as it is people are fucking morons and they'll lap up what the right wing media tells them.
