Head to Birmingham or York for the day session then head back to Sheffield to finish the night off.
That seems slightly divisive G, not exactly an egalitarian plan? People who have to travel to Brum. won't then travel to Sheffield unless you're from Sheffield. A few will probably have to get digs and not all will make it at the the proposed starting point. So far from a forum meet it appears to read as more as a jolly for the Sheffield based members. Surely if there is a meet it should be based in one place for the duration for people to meet up throughout the day. In my experiences these events garner lots of initial enthusiasm and commitment but as the day beckons many people find themselves unable to attend and the actual attendees are severely diminished. It may be best to keep it as simple as possible.
This is just going to be another thread in which people who put there opinions across, have no intention of turning up, thus making the people who are up for it change the original location to one more easier for the southern members to get to and then they wont show up.
It always happens.
If you're sorting the meet Gav, decide the location, those that want to get to the meet will show up anyway.
But i let the people know who organised it, i didn't just not turn up.
If i say i'm going to a meet, i'll go unless it is for a very good reason.
Some people will say they're going then not show up without telling anyone etc.., then when questioned why they didn't on here they make up some silly excuse.
Would rather put the feelers out first and see where the majority think.

Thats a sweeping generalization, I'm from the South, I've never been to an Offhand meet but at the same time I've never said I'd go and then not turn up !! Sheffield is a bit too far for me but if it's in Brum then I'll be there, its always good to put faces to names

Dont get me wrong mate, i think it would be more easier if it was a bit further down south, but the members who seem more interested in meets are from Sheffield, i know all the meets so far have been in Sheffield but if you 'really want' to meet the people you're talking to on a daily basis face to face what is an hour on the train, a little bit of effort is needed in my opinion.
Also, why dont the southern members sort out mini-meets either?

I see what your saying Bezz but with me the time spent traveling isn't really a factor, its the cash. I subsist on a very limited income, I've a mortgage, utility bills and all the other shit to pay for on my jack so I've always got to take travel costs and accomodation for a meet into account before I even think about drinking money . As to why none of the Southern members don't organize meets well I couldn't tell you, are there any other Southern members ? I'd be up for a pint if they are

To be fair what you are saying is that the people who live in or very close towhere the meet is happening are more likely to attend. I would have thought that was stating the obvious. If it is on your door step then it is very easy to go.
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one

Sort of.
But i'm trying to say, the Shefield lads seem the most keen to organise meets so shouldn't they get to choose the location?
I haven't seen any effort from the Southern lads trying to organise one.
