aye ian ,,, shoegaze ,, band members , too shy tae look at the crowd just looked at their feet , thus it became a genre/style of music.

The term was hated by the 'shoegaze' bands at the time.Lazy journo term for guitar players who stacked fuzz/ distortion/drive echo reverb etc via guitar pedals to create a wash of sound ,thus guitarists staring at their feet all set.My Bloody Valentine/Kevin Shields were at the forefront of the scene.
Personally one of my favorite forms of rock n roll.
Love Slowdive/MBV etc.

For a bit of post-rock, you could do worse than Oceansize
