Been decorating all last week in the hall . Finished , all painting good , new fixtures / fittings . Wife wanted picture putting up , drilled hole on wall - AND BANG !! Hit a friggin electric cable !! Lost all sockets downstairs & hot water / heating !
Worse thing is , went to buy a meter yesterday that tells you if in the wall there are electric cables or pipes .. Bloke told me to come back on Thursday as they would have good Bosch one in ...
Ouch! Not too good fella, better get hard hat on when she hears that she can't watch Eastenders or have a shower!
Another DIY misshape happened to me this weekend I'm in the middle of doing my room up and I couldn't find the steamer so did the old basin of hot water trick to strip the wallpaper, was too much work so popped to Homebase and bought a new steamer home filled it with water and plugged the fucker in and got the biggest shock I've ever had right up my arm and across my shoulders.
Turns out I'd soaked the plug socket with about a gallon of water, not the smartest thing I've ever done.
