...just say a chap had always planned to spend a year somewhere in Britain, take a season ticket at the nearest football club and experience life in a decent, working class town with a good pub life and maybe write about his experiences at a later date.....where should one consider?
I'd actually appreciate a few serious answers to this!
good call G, also wrexham, morecambe, rochdale, oldham, halifax, scunny, grimsby, port vale, walsall, just a few if you not after cities/big clubs etc.
Quote by SquarepusherYou could try somewhere like Stockport not too far from a major city. Or if you want a real taste of the north perhaps Hartlepool.
Hartlepool would be one of the places on the list alright. And I've been to Stockport too but I can't say I particularly warmed to the place. Could be a pie in the sky thing for me but something I always wanted to do. In many ways I consider places like Cardiff, Manchester, certain parts of London to be more an natural habitat for me than a small provincial town in southern Ireland which has a claustrophobic feel about it, especially when you've had three years of hell with regard to relationships, women and work.
But thanks to all for their input. Food for thought.
Huddersfield is a great shout. Stunning scenery around the area and of course great Yorkshire beer! If its football your interested in definitelty wouldn't recommend non-league.
Quote by WhiteyHuddersfield has always appealed to me. This is a great post about the place from a like minded chap who's into pubs, cycling, photography etc.
