Where's this mate?
On the way to work this morning st 2 clock and one of the local boozers is heaving!
Went to my local last night, really strange 'vibe' - bit like xmas eve. Packed out, everyone wishing each other well like they'll never see each other again.
There are 4 pubs in the top village where I live - 2 are opening this afternoon for regulars. Knock on the back door, curtains shut etc
The good old days of the lock ins, could write a book about it 😃
You have to remember these were the days before mobiles. Late in the afternoon and the pub phone would ring, Archie, the gaffer would answer the phone then should out loudly is Tone (example) in and mine, it's the Mrs. At this I would wave my hand wildly and Archie would say over the phone, sorry....he's not here!

Sigh, to have those days back again!
Exactly the same as our old local Tone...great days.
What's everyone feelings on This? Overhyped? Or will 1000s die? Ni govt was writing quoting 15000 dead in NI worse case at 1% mortality rate against 80% of population having it. I look at figures and China and Italy seem massively below 1% mortality on same basis. Obviously an element of scare tactics in it too but heard earlier one of the hospitals has ordered 6000 body bags. Jesus Christ....
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."

I do a fair bit of work now with people from HK and was warned a good while ago that this is a big one.
The figures from Italy are frightening and experts saying that Britain is on a steeper mortality curve.

We’re in for a rough ride..as soon as the football got cancelled I realised it was a bit more serious than first thought...everyone will be effected one way or another...it’ll probably effect me financially as I can’t work from home...I’m still working atm but for how long is anyone’s guess...but I’m lucky mrs Wade is a deputy head teacher, on decent money (and is earning every penny atm..stressed to fuck) so we’ll be able to ride the storm...some poor fuckers will lose a lot more

Like somebody already said Glenn, our (talking about England here) curve from the first death is upward of Italy. The Government response has been all over the place going from "we'll just have to take it on the chin" (which later forecasts predicted 250,00 deaths with this approach) to asking people to not go to pubs clubs etc. They finally closed them but two weeks previous, Italian health officials were begging other European countries to go into full lock down to avoid a catastrophe. Lock down will come to the UK but it will be far too late I fear. I can't get my head around anyone watching the Sky News videos from Lombardy still acting as if nothing is wrong. The talk now is that anyone over 60 in Northern Italy is basically denied treatment in ICUs, they are just left to die. Even the 20 and 30 somethings require 3 to 4 weeks on a ventilator if they fall really ill and they basically have no more ventilators to offer. Italy has thousands more ventilators than the UK by the way.
For me, the most chilling aspect is that according to a report a couple of days ago from Italy was that 76% of the fatalities were due to people having high blood pressure. That seems to be the underlying condition that is almost a death sentence if you contract this virus. The amount of regular folk walking around with high blood pressure and don't know it is staggering. I honestly believe the UK is heading for the Italian type disaster. Hope I'm wrong.
But hey, at least they had one final night in the boozers with cheap ale

Scary time’s gents the worlds on its knees, hopefully everything gets back to normal, I doubt it will, I can see this changing the world permanently. Economically and socially. Everyone needs to make the effort and follow the guidelines before it gets a real hold and fucks the country. I was as sceptical as anyone about it being over reported and hyped, av went full circle now, personally if I caught it I think I would cope, Other family members won’t that’s the facts of this, Am out on the bike with a few mates this morning and grafts definitely on next week, so it will be business as usual for me, unless we get a full lockdown, and that’s gona come a reckon
Plenty of digs at people for going to pubs on Friday night but not many here having a go at the government for not shutting pubs clubs restaurants etc much earlier.
Stories about this morning how it was Macron and the French government who had to bully Boris into forcing places to close down.
If Corbyn was in charge he would be sitting in the corner sucking his thumb.. social gathering requirements weren’t working nee cunt, including myself took any notice, that’s why they had to step it up, Am confused that you can’t see that, Personally I think the government is doing ok with this for now, no real mass hysteria covering wages, step by step shut downs,

Who mentioned Corbyn? He isn't in charge so he's completely irrelevant.
I don't think there's anyone ideally equipped or qualified to deal with whats on its way, no one. It's never happened before. All you can do is learn off other countries that are a few weeks in front of us.
Johnson hesitated on closing schools, pubs and the like and according to reports this morning if the French hadn't threatened him then they'd all still be open.
