Quote by RhysI've found that the problem most people have with it is that it's too realistic. Thought '88 was a vast improvement on '86 (which I still enjoyed). Shane Meadows really is a fantastic filmmaker. I don't think I've ever disliked any of his work.
have you seen somerstown? thats awful. what happened to the fat cockney in this is england. i know he had a heart attack on the bog in the last lot but did he die?
just brilliant, so much depth, such a heartbreaking story that catches the audience, the music, the whole directing, the perofmance by woody and lol. thats filmmaking and acting on the highest level. the woody moment at the end, just brilliant wasnt it...
if you want popcorn cinema, watch hollywood crap. this is the real deal. this is art!
I was 17 in 88 and there wasn't one sign of the original casual gear which is strange as everyone seemed to own a bit. During 88 there was bit of a feel good factor floating around the country, everyone seemed to have that little bit more cash. I was going into the 2nd yr of my apprenticeship then and there was plenty of overtime and when I only had to pay my mum £10 a week I felt like a millionaire. There is a moodiness about this trilogy, but the girl who acted as Lol deserves massive credit a true classic peice of acting, just as if she wasn't trying it was that natural.

Yes her acting was brilliant but overall the series was a bit of a let down for me,as others have said pretty predictable & in my humble opinion not a patch on the film.
