Right lads think yourselves lucky... My dentist got struck off in the usa for being a mad boozer,he's only just got his licence back after 4 years. Thing is I could go to him for free surgery with him being a good friend of mine,he never charged me for work. Had to have a root canal about 3 years ago, went to a different dentist who was going to cut me a deal for cash and wanted 3 grand. I told him to get me out of pain and he temp filled it for a few hundred dollars. Every time I visit the u.k. I pay 16.50 or somewhere around that to get a new temp filling. My tooth started playing up about 7 weeks ago after my u.k. dentist re-temped it.I was in absolute agony for a week before getting antibiotics to relieve the infection. Good news for me is,I've had a word back in the States and I'm going to get everything sorted when I get back If my chap can stay off the bottle. Root canal surgery will not hurt provided they novacain the shit out of you.It beats an infected tooth a million percent trust me. And I doubt its going to be the dreaded 3 fucking grand out of your sky. Get it sorted asap,it wont hurt.

Cost me more than that with all the national insurance ive paid in 25 years of working my nuts off! Ive not had to use nhs etc as ive paid for private medical care (bupa) so on reflection yes 3 grand sounds a lot but when ive paid NI for 25 years theyve had a massive whack off me

What do they actually do on a root canal J? Would rather put up with the pain at the dentist than having tooth ache, had an infection under one of mine a couple of months back and never had pain like it, didnt sleep for 3 days i was in agony. Thought they might just give me antibiotics but was buzzing when they just ripped the fucker out. Definatley dont want that again
Its all true ,Infection in a tooth is an absolute nightmare, when I had it a couple of months ago,I finally managed to get to sleep and half way through the night dreamed a bolt of lightning hit my mouth ZAAAAAPPPP woke me right up in screaming pain, just the infection letting me know it still had the upper hand. And yes, national insurance ,wasn't thinking, beats no insurance though, and I still pay my u.s. taxes like a good boy.
Add 3 out and a wisdom about 3weeks ago, never felt a thing, thanks to a big needle in arm and waking up two hours later, all on nhs thank you kindley.just played up and said couldnt have it done unless i woz knocked out, so they referred me.too hospital alot less pain m8,
I had root canal in May..cost me £200 on the NHS. The first visit wasn't too bad but an abcess was just clearing up, it wasjust lots of drilling and the stench from the infected tooth/root was rank!!!! Now the second visit.......is when they fit the supporting rods...wasn't too bad at first...then......he starts pusing the rods into place! never known a pain like it! I nearly bit the denstists finger off! I apologised afterwards to the dentist for the bad language and vowed never to go through that again and said I would rather have the tooth out.
The dentist then calmy pointed out that the more teeth you have out you end up looking like an old man as your teeth support the structure of your face and if a denstist notes that you haven't looked after your teeth because loads have been taken out the less likely they are going to help you.
The tooth then got infected after the abcess was not fully healed and it swelled up like a hamster!! lymph glands under my tongue got infected and I was on antibiotics for days.......just before the Europa league Final in Hamburg...finally the swelling went down in time.................but fcuk me I will never forget that pain!!
Hope this helps
