I'm sure most on here are happy to debate the issues of the day in a measured and reasoned fashion. What we can do without is bile. One of the pleasures of this place is that, by and large, folk are able to express their views without resorting to that kind of thing. Other forums are available where bile and unpleasantness are the order of the day. Y'know, if that's your bag.

Quote by Leonard OsbourneWhy show a video of them calling names after the event?? If they were guilty surely they would have been on video Saying how they killed a bloke
I am surprised that a single hair and micro spot of blood with the possibility of cross contamination was enough for a jury to convict. I think they were there and played some part in the murder. The jury convicted these two with a lot of other circumstantial evidence but in my view a coincidence is unlucky, more than that and your looking more and more guilty.
It will be interesting to see if they start talking now and put the others in the frame.
As for politics it is the media that have kept this going and the politicians can not afford to ignore that, the Police 18 years ago got it badly wrong and needed a conviction as much as any one else IMO.

I have to say that just because the two lads disagree with you doesn't mean they should go elsewhere, surely? They haven't posted anything offensive in my eyes, maybe the SL's mum's comment was a bit close to the mark, but it didn't offend me. I'm sure there's plenty on here who agree with them, but just don't post.

I've got no problem with folk who hold different opinions to me. That wasn't what my quoted post was about. However, the comment about a murdered son's mother was more than just 'a bit close to the mark' and you will see from other posters (above) that I wasn't the only one to think so. In my view, that type of stuff has no place on this forum. Differences of opinion, fine, gratioutous unpleasantness of that sort, not. If folk can't post their opinions without resorting to that kind of stuff, then perhaps they shouldn't post at all. That was my point.
If thats what you think then fair enough. maybe I'm just less easily offended.
I never normally post on these threads and probably should have kept my nose out.
I don't doubt for a second the people convicted were involved in the murder but I agree the trial has been a farce and imagine they would've been found 'not guilty' due to reasonable doubt if not for the media circus that has followed this case over the years.
The other lads involved must be shitting themselves now.
I wonder if the truth will ever come out about the incident and whether the 'alleged' stories of the murder being drug related, etc will ever come to light...

even if they played a small part it's classed in criminal law as joint enterprise. the evidence was there, was it not, no matter how small, the evidence to prove otherwise was not, therefore in my opinion the right verdict was reached. as for the media i agree this time, hopefully they served society well (did i just write that)
