I love food, and was wondering if anybody else did as well. I really enjoy eating out, and will be going to London this summer, so have a few spots I wanna hit up. Already have a booking at the Mandarin, to try Heston's new restaurant. And really want to try out Viajante, Ledbury and Sct. Johns as well. Has anyone been? I will also be happy for any tips on small hidden gems around the British capitol.
St. John's is great mate. If you like things like oxtail, trotters and offal you'll be set. Not been to Dinner but have been tinkering with a couple of Heston's books for a while - amazing stuff
J sheekeys is ace for seafood. Bodeans is good BBQ stuff at the other end of the scale. Wright brothers, borough market (seafood), polpo (beak st but there are others) and brindissa (borough) brilliant tapas. Soho joe, dean st. BRILLIANT pizza, really good value, can't book though I don't think
Heard good things about Meat Liquor.. brilliant burgers, real ale on tap if you're of the rambler persuassion, a ridiculous selection of side dishes. Only problem is you can't book a table and there's a decent sized queue there pretty much every night.
Pitt Cue Co is another no reservation place, couple of my mates went last month and said it was on point. If you love your meat this is somewhere you'll love.. It's like a BBQ/Smokehouse joint but made in a high end fashion with real thought and attention going into preparing the meat, what compliments it, etc. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/...ant-review.html Best ribs evuur, according to this fella.
Been to some nice little Bistro in Soho, but forgot the name and place. Will look it up for you. Think it was called Cafe Boheme. I did enjoy their food and athmosphere. http://www.cafeboheme.co.uk/
Jamie's Italian in Glasgow is very decent. Wee bit over priced but if you order well, which seems to be half the challenge in his restaurants, you'll be in for a good meal.

Meat Liquor's burgers are good yeah but its not really about the food, going there seems to be an extension of the fixed gear/supreme cap look for a lot of people. No real ale on tap when I went either, just bottled Pride - useless for a true caskateer!

Really? I've been lied to by some review haha. Didn't know it attracted that sort of crowd tbh.. May be best to give it a swerve then.
Matt - I've had their burgers too, nothing special. But other times I had mozarella rice balls with a tomato dip, squid ink pasta.. few other things which I can't quite remember.. and they've all been pretty good. Like I said, it's a hit and a miss usually dictated by what you order. The decor is pretty wank, but the bar downstairs is a decent wee space to have a drink while you wait for your table.

I'd still go as its a good burger just don't expect friendly service, to be able to see your food or to avoid queuing without someone trying to get in front of you! Better still wait until the suns out and then track down the Meat Wagon - same burgers but from the back of a van

Nutters in Rochdale. Can highly recommend the Gourmet menu. £42 per head & 6 courses of whatever the Chef wants to make for you. Lovely: http://www.nuttersrestaurant.co.uk/index2.php
Have been to Dinner ( by Heston) @ The Mandarin Oriental. Have to say, it was very good.
Also, recently went to Pollen Street Social, which was equally excellent and relatively cheap.
Have been to Locanda Locatelli and St John Bread And Wine a number of times and can recommend both, along with River Cafe although this was very very expensive.
If your anywhere near Cheltenham I can also recommend Le Champignon Sauvage and The Old Passage Inn
Have booked into Northcote Manor in July for a Weekend.
Places I am going to try and visit later in the year are L'Enclume and The Hand & Flowers.

Can't go wrong with the st John. Think they have four places now so see which looks best for you. Andrew Edmunds is probably my favourite place to eat, food is good but the restaurant itself is very atmospheric. Think fergus henderson's missus has a place nr old street, if I remember the name I'll post it up.

Try Hedone out in Chiswick mate. My brother took his missus there for her 21st and said it was the best meal he's ever had. Not been myself though.

Agreed....been a few times and always enjoyed it....the mushrooms in "music bread" are delicious...as are the polenta chips.
