Meant to be a brilliant student city, i only looked at notts and manchester in terms of proper student cities and ended up at neither, 4 lads from my school went to hallam, all giving it large about how much they were going to love their uni experience, funnily enough after one year, the only one who is still there is the one who banged on about it the least !!
Steve's Sportsman is out in the sticks. You leave your keys in a pot on the way in, that type of place :)
The Sporty on Denby St has gone to ruin for a few years unfortunately. Shouldn't of got rid of the blades carpet! Don't think it's the same fella running it now Ja.
No it's not Phil, Adam left just before it was on it's last legs proper another dodgy gaff, used to DJ upstairs in bare rooms, well moody. Hope to see you 15th, gotta show these newbies what sheff is about :-)

Quote: Peaks wrote in post #22Spence have you ever been to The Oak in Coventry?
If by the Oak you mean the Oak Inn then yeah i've been in there, not the Coventry Oak though. Why?
Hmm not sure, its 2min from the cathedral and near another pub. Open till 4am every night, with a 7ft bouncer! Was in Cov recently and spent some time in there cracking place. Just wondering if you knew it!

Ahh yes know the one, great pub and the people in there aren't too bad which is a rarity in Cov.

Yeah there's that dodgy squared stuff down now - looks crap. I think a Blade has got it now - if he is the landlord anyway...
Always a bastard getting served in there on a matchday, so don't bother so much now. Plus the Cricks is open once more and it serves Kelham Island beers.

Didn't know that. Might have to pop in. Stopped going to the Cricks as the beer was fucking awful, not been since it reopened though. We've started going to the Shakespeare at Heeley before games, just because it's easy to get served and has got an alright beer garden. Tried the Sheaf View but it was full of beardy dog botherers.

Well, cos we get the train in from Rotherham we generally go into town first, so end up in the Red Lion/Roebuck or somewhere and then go to London Road somewhere - usually Scholar.
Quote: Mersons Bookie wrote in post #17It's Luke :) AKA The Barber From Hell! Top lad he is too
I went in for a cut earlier - Luke did it too. Mentioned the forum to him, said he's been unable to post recently as his laptop is broke. Had a good chat anyway, top lad!
I know some lads have mentioned Taylor Taylor for a trim. I'd highly recommend Savills on either Division Street or on Chapel Walk. Any of the male barbers and you're in good capable hands (especially Tom, Jordan, Joth or Jono). Also for any hairy faces they do an amazing cut throat (not one to experience it myself) but lots of praises of them going about.
