I think parts of the story have been exaggerated, there's no doubt he'll have enemies within cycling who have an axe to grind and they'll have used this as an opportunity to do so. However, I think the evidence is pretty unavoidable after Hincape's statement. It's really sad situation IMO.
That said, I still think he's one of the best cyclists of all time, if not THE best. The facts are he wasn't the only one to dope at the time and I still think he'd have been streets ahead of most people if everyone was clean.. And, i still think the work he's done for cancer awareness is incredible.
Still, I maintain Floyd Landis always has been and always will be a wank due to his general bawbag demanour and the way he's handled this. Tyler Hamilton's also a wank while we're at it.

It's alright to 'think' some of the allegations have been exaggerated, afterall it wasn't long ago I presume you thought they were fabricated, but it is glaringly obvious that Armstrong was not only a drug cheat but that he called the shots at US Postal with regards to doping. He bullied, threatened and ruined plenty along the way and IMO that is worse than his cheating. What he did to Simeoni and Bassons was fucking disgusting and his 'treatment' of Emma O'Reilly truly sickening. As for him being the best, well it is now known that doping affects people differently, some get bigger advantages than others so the playing field is never level.
Here's one for you, why don't all the teams scrap their existing contracts with their sponsors and get the large pharmaceutical* companies to sponsor them.

A lot do use drugs to become what they are, thats the point. A lot are alcoholics and use dangerous drugs... Plus earn lots. Fact remains, he has raised fucking loads and saved lives. I myself have saved many lives, but will never create awareness as much as him so fair play to him. That to me is all that matters. As i said, if he didn't win it someone else on it would have won... However they wouldn't have tackled Cancer then raised so much. Some might say it was a blessing that he did reach such status.
^^ someone else might have done more for cancer research. no one knows. all that work doesnt preclude him from being brought to book over this. especially given the regard - almost deity status - he was held in. that said, i couldnt give a stuff.
the ' someone else ' quote is conjecture , what Armstrong HAS done for Cancer is legendary .. Cancer , no doubt , has affected most even on this forum , wether it be close family , or friend .. If someone raises shit loads of money , and awareness , then in my book he's a jolly good fello ..
he's been stripped , and ridiculed by the powers that be in his sport , drugs are rife in any sport , it's about being caught ..

i used to do cycle racing as a sport from 15 to 19 years old. Raced at eastway east london Crsystal palace and all sorts and also know semi pro riders who have raced in Europe. The things is i would say 80% of them take drugs and some have even died. This happened to my favourite cyclist.

In support of his charity work. At the time i fully believed he didn't cheat. I later took the new news into consideration and said i don't give a shit as his charity stuff is miles more important to me. So no i don't give a shit about the fact it now looks certain he did cheat. But i do give a shit about the charity stuff as i have now stated about a million fucking times.
Anyone else not able to use basic skills to put 2 and 2 together and also read and summarize or are we done here with internet egos?...
