You will be in the right area around there in the Lace Market.
Think that's shut, Lace Market not very nice now, was good years ago.
Hand and Heart on Derby Road is good, nice venue, good beers and no idiots. Start there then go back into town via Brown's which is nice near the Playhouse. Older crowd and bit more expensive than H and H.
Onto the Dragon near the Market Square which has good beers.
Or you could try Mansfield Road some nice places up there, some not so nice.
Other good pubs near the centre are Cock and Hoop, bit more expensive but nice as you can have a good chat, and Kean's Head
If you want somewhere nice to eat then Thailand No 1 in Hockley is good.
Both radford and Dylan have said what Id agree on , but , when the good lady and I go out we head for West Bridgeford CENTRE , good food , area and some great bars in a relaxed and good mix of people area .only 2 miles from the centre of Nottingham , its on the Forest and Cricket ground side.

agree, canning circus area is one of the better places to drink.
hand in heart, john borlase and a few others as well. Plus no idiots like you get in centre of town.
