Generally I leave shopping till a couple of days before as I find it annoying as fuck (spending money on other people).
I do love the Christmas period though, loads of cracking bait, lashings of ale and catching up with family and old friends.
My favourite part of the year !! As for the shopping i get it out the way !! May leave it late this year mind, i love going shopping when its packed, stresses people out but i think its all part of christmas.....also if you go to decent shops they wont be packed anyway really !!
TBH I am not phased by xmas at all and have usually worked them, sorry to sound selfish but mainly to avoid the dynamics in myfamily and travelling around the country. But then I dont have kids or have a close relationship with my family so thatds probably why it just passes me by. My missus hates me for it, I could sleep right through xmas day and prob will this year after all the highs and lows this year. More a time of reflection for me.

I love Christmas , but tend to find it so tense a time of the year. I have out of 20 years working away maybe had 5-7 Christmas's at home. We try our hardest to make it perfect for the kids , but it seems as though all you do is shop for this or that right upto Christmas Eve , that come the big day you are fucked. It starts way too early , September Asda had Christmas chocolates / decorations in. With young children it can be such a magical time of the year , hard not to spoil the kids. Sure wish they'd release a proper oldschool Christmas song too , instead of the shite that's usually around.

They've narf done that place up Sean, I used to get up there with a few old Throckley mates of mine. Last time I was up there it didn't look like that, pretty sure there was a pool table where those dinner tables are

I think I might be getting the Swann mixed up with the Tuns?
Anyway I am off to my mam's, it's a big new house overlooking Leam farm
Love Chritmas, although my kids are now adults 23 and 21 I still wake them up at 6 o'clock just to see them open there presents then I take my father inlaw for a couple of pints, back to his for dinner. You can't beat that time of year
Saw a Christmas Tree with lights 2 days ago as I was walking down the road. Bit early I thought? Only time of the year that's it's a pleasure going Asda for shopping is in the week before the holidays. People smiling and being polite as they fill their trolleys up with food. After new year it back to normal London life.. Rarely a smile, thank you or excuse me please!!!

Yes indeed. But still got to go with the wife and get stocked up for holiday period. One of my local butchers has a nice selection of Halal Turkey's so I get my Turkey fix every year.
Love it for the kids, but for myself I m working xmas day until 3ish, then boxing day late shift, sleeping over then working the 27th so not much of one for me this year. Just ordering a load of dvds and cds as I type(for me)
Break up the 21st and return to work on the 2nd so we get a decent holiday for the festive period. Sit about the house all day indulge myself in saft amounts of food and get absolutely wrecked on the ales day after day without getting a bollocking for it. The boozers round by me tend to be a bit boring on the weekend but they seem to come alive at Christmas time, can't wait. My last holiday from work was early September so it's been long enough!
Im looking forward to crimbo..........looking forward to finishing up at work...................i love the traditional family xmas dinner................mrs Clyde is putiing the tree up next weekend.
I'm looking forward to the day itself - over to my old mans for dinner, few jars in the afternoon, few large whiskies in the evening - can't whack that at all.
However the next few weeks are, for a barman, utter carnage. Once a year drinkers giving it the biggun, then having to cycle home in freezing weather. Haven't started my shopping either, at a bit of a loss as to what to get my bird.
Love it. First xmas we're having at ours this year. Feel a bit guilty leaving the rents on their tod but going down there on Boxing Day anyway for xmas Mark II. Volunteered to sort the dinner out, so just ordered it all from M&S :) Pick it all up xmas eve at 2pm, in the fridge, then follow the instructions. Job done. Got the outlaws all staying, so having a few kids about is going to be really different to the past few years. Can't wait to be up at 5 and going to see if Santa has been!
