She hated football fans after the heysel stadium disaster and manslaughter of 39 poor souls

And as a result of the Housing Act (1980) we now have no social housing and have to move those who need accomodation into properties with private landlords costing the earth.

Oh, and Mr Vasque, your still narked 'cos you got beat by Manchester's biggest club, Monday night....................at home! Taking it out of some poor old dear that's just passed away, shame on you!
I'm no supporter of either 3 main political parties and I wasn't around in the 70's/80's as I was born in 91 but can you really blame the Housing act as the soul reason of why we currently lack adequate social housing? I suppose Labours open door policy on immigration and the lack of building new social housing by successive governments after Thatcher has nothing to do with it?
Not taking a pot shot at anyone just a genuine question/observation.
Confusion in her eyes that says it all. She's lost control.....

You can't blame it on her personally, but you can blame it on the market consensus she bought on and which was subsequently embraced under New Labour. However, it is a myth that Labour didn't build any new houses. Some 23,000 per built on average each year, not including upgrades to older housing stock. Also, the root problem isn't immigration, but age (although immigration certainly hasn't helped). The population is going up and older people are more likely to rattle about their 3 bed council house for longer. Because our society is driven by the market and driving a quick buck there's been no reassessment of how we're going to cope with this.

It's not the sole reason no but it's certainly part of the problem. As with most of Thatchers ideas they were all short termism and little thought was given as to the long term problems. Typical boom and bust.
