I did see on BBC Breakfast that they are saying that Moyes could get the job but this is the same Moyes who has been linked to Arsenal and Chelsea for seasons.

Moyes' odds were slashed yesterday. Rumours of him going there as an assistant/interim coach while Ferguson goes under the knife.
Christ, I wasn't even born when Sir Alex took charge at United! While I'm not a fan of the club itself its hard not to admire some of the teams he's built. Some of my earliest footballing memories include the likes of Cantona, Giggs and Lee Sharpe and its difficult to dispute the profound effect that he's had on English, and indeed Scottish football. Similarly I've always had a lot of respect for Ferguson. Okay, he might be a bit of a curmudgeon at times, but his passion for the game is insatiable and in a time of flux, with foreign players, owners, fans and managers all taking their pound of flesh, he provides a link to the game as it once was. Without question his retirement marks the end of an era. In 86 I don't think 'fans' in Jakarta would have discussed his appointment, but there's bound to be international outpouring today. Whoever replaces him has one of the biggest jobs in football and will need to rise to the occasion. For what it's worth I think Moyes has the tactical aptitude and resolve needed. However, Jurgen Klopp, Joachim Low and Jose Mourinho could also do a decent job IMO.
Without doubt the greatest Manager to have graced these shores, his record/achievements will never be surpassed imo. I'll miss his little tantrums and red tinted vision but you can't get away from what he has achieved and what he has built. Sounding like Moyes with a little help from Fergie to me.
Utd to announce their new managerial appointment within the next 48 hours. Very interesting. Would be a big turn if Mourinho went there. Moyes seems a good bet. Apparently, united fans are trying to get tickets in our home end for his last match.

I went over on trials to Man U when he literally had just taken over - in fact his car park space still had RA painted in it 14 years old with the world my oyster.....hard to believe he's been manager since then. He's the best ever for me. Attacking football, multiple teams, never beaten attitude, promoted youth talent through the ranks. He done it all. And that's before you even get into his Aberdeen achievements on top of that. Football will be poorer without him.
And Mourinho better not fucking go to Old Trafford ......
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
Feel a bit gutted i never got to see a team managed by him play live. Grew fonder of united as i've been old enough to appreciate top quality football, got over the whole 'i hate glory hunters' idea of my teens. My favourite United match i watched has to be the comeback at villa park....
Man U will go British....and for someone long term JM fits neither bill ! Fergie has got on my tits many times, but comes across as a nice bloke when his red tinted glasses are off, probably a great bloke to have a piss up with!

Remember watching that at the time too. don't think I appreciated just how pivotal Scholes was to every Utd move forward, some player. Amazing to see Vassell knock Blanc off the ball at around the 2.20 mark too, if ever there was a footballing mismatch...
Been keeping an eye on the betting most of the night, It appears most of the bookies have now thrown in the towel, a couple of hours ago, you could get odds from every bookmaker.
