Zitat von Wolves88The EDL are always going to have a bad reputation because of some of the clowns like the one in the video that go on the demo's but your always going to get that and theres not really anyway that it can be stopped. Im sure most the lads on here would agree with the main things they stand for just maybe not how they go about it. Only been to two myself, one because it was in Wolves (but i was just in the town) and another local one to me because a very large group of lads from Wolves went. Not been bothered about going to anymore but i know lads that go to nearly all of them, not just white lads either, ive got asian and black mates that have been on the marches without any trouble at all. Alot of people seem to tar everyone that goes with the same brush when their only basing it on what theyve seen in the media which lets be honest is never going to be favourable towards them is it
I think you can see the reason why you went, like you say large group's of football lads are using it to hang onto whats been taken away at the football, it's not the way to go mate. I went to the one in Wolverhampton, not in with them because it's not my thing on so many different levels, but stood next to them and watched them for a bit, a massive bunch of scruffy idiots with no sense of direction or common sense, pockets of them were chanting at asian's in the street, if you asked everyone there why they were there 65% of them would give a similar answer to the lad in that video, I know plenty who go on them including mate's of mine, for many it's an excuse to go out with the lads, bang a load of powder and get pissed and play up, and thats all it will ever be.
Dont know about any of this but I am a memeber of the full english defence league, defending the traditional english breakfast from foreign foods that have invaded the once proud breakfast tables of this land. Were marching outside a croissant factory in Luton next week if anyone wants in. No surrender to Le Petit Dejeuner!

Where the fuck do I sign up? - theres a cafe near me that does Blueberry drop scone for breakfast - I'm thinking of fire bombing the fucking place...

Nah its not the way to go, like i said i wouldnt go on another one now, unless it was in Wolves obviously but id be the same as you and just be outside of it, probably in the boozer Like you said there alot of the people that go havent got a clue what its all about and then theres always a high number of footy lads there just looking for a good day out and your right its never going to change.
Zitat von Leicester_LoyalI think its best to just leave them be, let them get on with what they are doing, even if we don't agree with it (I'm assuming most of us don't)
FFS? Out of the mouths of babes!
First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the communists and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me - and by then there was no one left to speak out for me.

Wolves88, the EDL "leaders" don't know what it's all about either. If it's supposedly about defending people from militant Islam, then why is nearly every aspect of Muslim culture being attacked? These wankers like Steven Lennon and Carroll (who want to look at the way their own ancestors were treated, both being of Irish stock) have moved the goalposts so many times that they really have no basis of argument. How can they attack Muslims for the way they butcher meat yet fly Israeli flags in support of their Jewish 'mates' - a fucking laughable clutching of straws if there ever was one - who buthcer Kosher meat in the exact same way? I'm of Jewish descent so I don't have an agenda here other than to point out their brazen ignorance.
There are supporters and apologists for these twats everywhere, but if you think that getting in tow with fascists is 'a good day out' then that's a real pity. Maybe I'm just an amateur, but I always thought that part of being a sussed chap was seeing past bullshit and being one step ahead of the game, and not just in what clothes you have on your back.

As said above maybe i worded it wrong first and should have said most people could agree with the reason it was all started in the beginning, you seem to be alot more clued up on it than i am (not got much intrest in it) so correct me if im wrong but wasnt it all started when the troops were getting abuse when marching through Luton??? Obviously it has moved on alot since then and as youve said there things like the issues with halal meat but then waving an israeli flag are laughable. But i still think to say as some people do that everyone that goes on the demos are basically out and out racists is way off the mark.

My memory is a bit hazy but I think the Islamist protest in Luton against the troops home coming from Afghanistan was the last straw for the town as it had been blowing up for quite a while before then, I know a couple of Luton lad's and they used to post about it on various boards, pretty similar to Oldham at the time so in some respect I see what your trying to say pal about why it was started, it's like the Islamic divvies who set fire to a giant poppy on armistice day in London and the Portsmouth branch painted a massive poppy on the local muslim temple, I can see why they retaliated and like you I can semi see why it was formed but it's got so out of hand in term's their follower's and how they act it's just shit, I think the weekend one in Blackburn could blow up as there has been a lot going on up there and Bradford, Huddersfield etc, you have made it pretty clear you know what it's about deep down and they will only go one way which is down, but that's how they have made it.

Exactly what im trying to say mate and its things like that imo why i think alot of people do go on the EDL marches, alot wont care about alot of the other stuff that is spouted but are tired of seeing things like that with the troops and the poppy etc etc. Im not naive enough to think alot of people that go arent just plain racists but as ive said to label everyone the same is way off the mark. There isnt any other group who protest about things like the marches against the soldiers happening and if there was it would just end up going the exact same way as the edl as there is noway you can control who turns up on the day, but does that mean that everyone should just sit back and say nothing???
I think anyone with half a brain who harboured feelings against musilims who protest by burning poppies would not vent there feelings via the EDL. There are more coherent, tolerant and viable sources to channel your energies.
I would urge anyone who has an opinion on anything to get involved on twitter as you will find some thing.
I for one am keen on the anti cuts movement, UKUncut which I found via twitter.

What other ways are there that are going to get as much attention as a protest though? Its all well and good having loads of people on twitter following a campaign for the same thing but realisticly do you think that will make a difference?

The reason people flocked to the edl leaning is because it's the most easily accessible offering, and the link with football lad's, it's not about being brain dead but a lot of these lads are football and I would imagine an edl march where they do what they want has more of a pull than your UKUncut sit down protests, and the fact they are direct in their intention's plain and simple really, I think all these offshoot's are shit to be honest, none of it is for me and never will be, clothes music sex drugs & beer........ I should start one really, just go out... march.... take drugs have a drink and free love while listening to music, I think it would go down a storm, I give you the HornyDapper brigade

The EDL Wands and the Muslim Wands who go around burning poppys are just two sides of the same coin.
None of them exactly garner a ground swell of popular opinion and encouragement do they.

Yeah they probably are, but all im saying is i agree with the reasons why it was all first started up (if i was right in thinking it was because of the thing in Luton) and i dont see how anyone could be against that. Yes people might hate the way its gone, the leaders and alot that attend the demos but why should people just sit back and take things like what happened in Luton without doing anything?
