Still go most home games, but mainly to meet up before and after game catch up etc. Football generally is dead, get the odd game where the anticipation builds up but on the whole its sanitised, predictable, expensive, much-ado-about-nothing. Can't stand 95% of the players although that has got better now we're out of the PL,stewards, kick off times etc Still enjoy days like Saturdays friendly with Chelsea, meeting up with mates haven't seen for a while (Chelsea and Pompey), and try and get to about 8 or 9 away games for a day out without expecting too much from it
I used to go home and away with Hibs and even when I moved back to England I made sure to get up for all the derbys/rangers and then a couple of others but these days I struggle to get excited about it. The quality of football is pitiful right now, our ground is soulless and we've even got a 'singing section' possibly the least cool thing in a football ground since the introduction of furry mascots. I try and go to most Millwall home games and have toyed with getting a season ticket this year but reckon Ill be working saturdays so will have to pick and choose my games a bit more. As long as I can do a few decent aways (West Ham, someone decent in the cup, Leeds etc) then I'll be reasonably happy.
Quote by maclufcI used to go to most matches home and away in the 80s, I cut it down to around 12 games a season after that, and in the last 2 years havent been to a game, although I ve been to the pre/post match meets quite a few times
I can't remember the last time I saw Mac in a game! If I go into any home games it's on junior ticket (I'm 49) and usually leave before half time. I will visit the cities where Leeds are playing up to a dozen times a season but rarely watch a game. I prefer the real ales and fine dining and as Mac will testify, love the pubs 100 yards in any direction of Kings Cross
I've been a regular match goer since I was about 14-15. The last few years I've been to every home and away game including most of the European games (at least the ones in bus/train). Obviously had a break when I was in London but managed to catch quite a few baggies games anyway. Now I'm back in Copenhagen and am right back in the old mood, playing Shamrock Rovers tomorrow and eagerly awaiting the draw for next round, hopefully we'll get a team we can reach by bus or train. Can't afford spending £400 on a trip before we even qualify for the group stages.
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
been to every home game for the last couple of seasons but i'll be playing football saturday afternoons from now on so will have to give it a miss, will try and get to any aways if my games are called off which they usually are quite easily. season ticket for me last few years was £90 though so no worries about prices(u18, by the way)
Didn't go to any homes last season....Made it to one pre season away and one away.....Fucking hell that's shocking.....used to have a season ticket and go to a handful of aways.....to that.....fuck sake....
Anyway I'm moving away to uni next year....Gonna spend all my spare money on going to london to see us play....Went to dagenham to watch us last year....More about the day out and the hour and a half or so spent on the tube to get to dagenham from central London than the game, best laugh ive ever had at a game was that day !! Was meant to go and watch us play charlton last december but the game was moved to the sunday....Went to watch fulham Vs. Sunderland......Worst game of football i have ever whitnessed....Terrible.....Sunderland fans were superb though.....Sat in a neutral stand....paid 10 quid to get in saying i was 15.....quality.

Regular Home attender . Had Season ticket for several years , despite the change of management at villa i'll still be going regular. Go the odd away game here and there when i can afford to. Prefer away games to home.
Agree with what of the lads are saying , most occasions last season i was more intrested in the meeting up before the game and having a drink.
Went to Darlington away last season and one or two home games. Miss the crack of away days sometimes and have promised myself that i'll try and go to Luton and Stockport this year but the reality of it is, if a decent nighter is on then football goes straight out of the window. It's all about music and associated partying for me these days. Saying that, the lads who I do the night with in London, including the individual, are all from the football.
Only missed two games, league and cup, home and away last year. It's much better than sitting in on a Saturday, but some days can be proper shite; makes the good ones al the better I suppose.
Quote by BezzI used to go to most games both home and away, but last season i packed it in, saved the money and spent it on clothing.
This season though, i will be at every home game, but not to watch the fucking match, will be working in the club store.
Will try and get to as many away games a possible but it's difficuilt getting tickets for Leeds Away games at the best of times, shouldn't be a problem though.
Been down loads of games over the years but not been in loads of matches ..... me and 135 odd of the lads I knew got banning orders of between 5 - 15 yrs . But about two coach loads of us have started going again but only for the big games still a right larf tho .

this is the least whelmed ive been about the forthcoming season. and i wasnt arsed last year. basically since the cup final defeat in 09, and i wasnt really arsed about that
go to as many away games as i can,not been to a home game in years can't stand it soulless bowl
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
Have been goingt o 15+ games a season for the last 7 or seasons since I mopved back to Britain. But each game is a 7 hour round trip and I can;t be bothered. Also with petrol or train tickets so expensive and the average ticket about £45 every trip is a equal to two pairs of trainers or some nice clothes so I would rather have something I will have for years to come.
Spurs are on TV a lot so I would rather meet my mates in the pub in Glasgow and spend £20-£30 than waste £100 on a train and match ticket!
I am really lossing interest in the game as well, the money is obscene in the game and it's no longer the sport I fell in love with at 12 standing on The Shelf.
The final nail came at home to West Ham last season, I'd not been to White Hart Lane for years and loved the memories of the derby games and the atmosphere, unfortunately it was like a morgue and killed off a lot of the feeling and attachment I had!

your post Ian probably sums up my feelings as well. That's definitely me, now. Games that used to be 'must attend' aren't even remotely in that bracket now. I don't keep the same interest with what's happening at the club, generally, and I almost have to force myself at times to keep an interest. As has been said, it's all about the pre/post meeting with mates now for me, whether it's going over to the games or meeting to watch them in the pub. I'm doing our friendly next week with Rangers simply because it'll be a good day out with the football secondary and it's a cheap one in comparison to other games. I've gone from 7-10 games a season in the 90's to 2-3 a season now. I'll do one home a season as the Mrs likes a weekend in London but other than that, one annual away with our full club going and the odd away elsewhere if I can be bothered.

Aye the amount of times I never ended up at the game when traveling especially, when I used to frequent Hull. Always enjoyed the crack of traveling away by whatever means necessary with a regular crowd, We had some great times. When I do go to the odd game after moving away from Hull its great to bump into lads from 88 to mid 90's where we still remember each other. Cant beat catching up again with them. Dont go nearly half as much as would like nowadays as back then it was all we used to live for. Also go to a few other grounds with people who I have got to know like Newcastle, Sheff Wed & Burnley.
Keep saying I will go to more aways every season , but lose intrest , going up to Blackburn 1st game and see how it gos, but with them all on the satellite channels now makes you wonder if it's worth spunking £100 up the wall every couple of weeks.
