How many of you lot would still class yourself as a regular match goer, which i would say is at least half of all games your team plays in a season?
I am, but if im honest, cant see it continuing for much longer. I went to Portsmouth this weekend for our pre season friendly, but stayed for about half hour and went back to the pub. Im beginning to enjoy the pre-match/post-match socialising more than the game itself, which i will just watch the highlights for. And in fact the best aways we had last season were loses and 0-0 draws. I love my club but just get a bit bored. Anyone else feel the same?
I go to the most games of my club, including many of the aways. But i know what you mean ... it's not only the football and the game - it has to do with all the surroundings of the game too. Meeting your best friends, travelling to the games, spending hours on a bus full of good lads you know, maybe some fun with the opposite side or just winding up the coppers or cheating the stewards, swearing the opponent team like an old scumbag, having pre and post match pints in the pub ... i love it and i can't see myself stopping it at the moment. New season will start next weekend and i'm really looking forward it. Playin' the third division here in germany there will probably be a few shitty games against reserve teams but loads of interesting ones too, many oldschool grounds and decent clubs we didn't play against for a long time. And of course finally facing our enemy again
ive been going since the stadium of light opened back in whenever. got wrapped up in it, too much at times really. didnt bother with a season ticket last year and wont be this year due to heading back to university. i still went to quite a few last year but it hasnt been the same, taking a step back, still some cracking days out, but football as a 'sport' doesnt really do anything for me at the moment, often the 90 worst minutes of the day , having said that im flying to germany on friday and at some point over the weekend ill be taking in one of sunderlands pre season games.
reached for the secret too soon, cried for the moon.
i will again this season be a regular down my beloved club.haven't been for the last 2+ years because of erm...circumstances. agree alot with the lads views above about often enjoying the meetin up before and after more than the actual game.
Had a season ticket for years but havent bothered with next season, just dont get anywhere near the same buzz as i used to going to the games and i think most of it is due to playing in the Prem. As has been said already i prefer the pre/post match drinks more than anything, so seems pretty pointless getting a ticket now when the game is shown in the town in quite a few boozers anyway. Might be doing Celtic away next week and maybe our home friendly against Zaragoza but cant see me doing any after that except maybe if i get a ticket for the shit down the road.
went regular from the age of 12 up untill late twentys.... then just picked the odd game. dont bother these days apart from the odd away trip still pop over for the crack now and then but dont go in the game
Had a season ticket for 11 years then Mowbray came along and made me dread going to the game. I would support Celtic through thick and thin but there was no way I was lining the pockets of that team. Was dire to watch.
Have been to the odd game since, going to try and get to a lot more away games this season.
Go to every home game and about 5- 8 away days a season, I had a top time last year going to Europe with Fulham...hopefully we'll make the group stages this year. I get itchy feet if I miss a home game...going tomorrow night to see us play Crusaders FC.
Agree with SAFC Beaufort ,sometimes a game of football gets in the way of a good day out.
Dirty old river, must you keep rolling, Flowing into the night.......
Can't go due to a banning order which I received a year ago for an event that was barely anything to do with football, and the irony is that it happened years after I was really involved in all that, the last ten years have been terrible dropping down to the bottom of the fourth division from the Premiership in that time has been depressing to watch. Before that I was a regular match goer mainly because of the cheap season tickets the club offer, cheapest in the Football league I believe, lost count of the amount of away games I travelled to and never ended up even seeing the ground let alone going in and sitting there for 90 minutes, bit awkward when you get back and someone asks what the score was, and you've not got a fucking clue
I used to go to most games both home and away, but last season i packed it in, saved the money and spent it on clothing.
This season though, i will be at every home game, but not to watch the fucking match, will be working in the club store.
Will try and get to as many away games a possible but it's difficuilt getting tickets for Leeds Away games at the best of times, shouldn't be a problem though.
I used to go to most matches home and away in the 80s, I cut it down to around 12 games a season after that, and in the last 2 years havent been to a game, although I ve been to the pre/post match meets quite a few times

Agree with that J, i'll not be bothering with a season ticket again this year.....enjoy the before and after more than the game, still go out for every game but will pick and choose the ones to go into watch
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard
Aye got my Blades season ticket for another year, will be aiming to get my ground count up past 60 this season with the various new aways. As most have said it's all about the bevvy pre and post these days
^^^^Henrik we'll have to have a few the next time you're over
Used to go alot years ago, but life and to a degree the Premiership took over, didn't go for years. If i'm honest have rather enjoyed dropping down the divisions and i starting going again, far more enjoyable crowd at the game..
Haven't been to a Bradford game for about 2 years now, just can't be arsed really travelling from York for a "home" game. The last years i was going before i moved were spent mainly in the pub home and away but used to go week in week out home and away and all the shitty cup games, good times but behind me now but may pop down for the odd one......won't go in the game though
