Quote by soul_stylistSteve, Arsenal were torn apart by United because more than 8 first team players were injured. Fact. Do you honestly think they would have put 8 past them otherwise? I very much doubt it.
Who says RVP is leaving in January or Summer for that matter? It's just speculation and to be quite honest, pretty boring, manufactured by the media because they've run out of crisis talk shit to print just like all those columns about Arsenal being dead and buried, now that they're playing well and winning. Everyone writes them off, what if this, what if that. It's a load of nonsense in my eyes. You judge a team by the performances they are putting in on the pitch at the time of writing and then you can judge them by what they've done over a season in my opinion. The seasons nearing its half way point and instead of citing the positives that Wenger has achieved by turning Arsenals fortunes around, you've still got people berating him for not spending money or not winning a trophy for a few seasons which just sums up my initial point and proves how much of a narrow minded influence the media can have on people. But you don't give a shit about Arsenal, so it doesn't really matter - these are just my opinions on the matter.
perhaps read my initial post , reason why I started this thread , and as with most tangents off into ridicule .. I aplaud Wenger - the football his teams produce makes you want to sit there and watch the game .. all I'm trying to say though is surely as fans you can't be just content with playing eye-catching football ? and therefor there has to be a reason why as a club you are not winning things .. I simply love football , and love my club - but Im not that daft or biased to realise how good Ferguson & Wenger are .. just trying to see what people feel the reasons are for Arsenals shortcomings visa vie Trophies ..

I've read the whole thread Steve and I wrote that response in reply to your more recent posts in which you made comments about the subjects I've given my opinion on.
I respect what point your putting across and the answer for me is that any team that hasn't won a trophy for a few seasons, or on smaller scale, hasn't won a couple of games for a while will not be happy but then that's football isn't it, and everyone wants to win. However, my point is that the stigma and negativity that attaches itself to Arsenal when discussing these points borders on the ridiculous and is pretty unjustified because the majority of people always seem to pick out the negatives with the club rather than the positive.
Wenger is a victim of his own success. Achieving continual CL qualification, title challenges, etc...on little money, producing players from next to nothing and turning them into 20 million stars. There isn't many managers who could pull it off. And we know - cause we've tried about 65 managers in the last 5 years ...
what I would say is, I can't understand the logic in the summer. Spending £25 mill say on Scotty Parker, Cahill and maybe Scott Dann would have transformed you a fair bit - certainly a lot more solid at the back. not sure why he didn't. Wish we'd have taken parker and given the pikeys Mikel for a laugh ...
But, tbh, like always, the press went overboard, particularly after the Utd game, when in reality, if you keep in touch (which you have) a couple of signings in january and you could easily finish 3rd. And if you do please please come and sign Malouda, Kaloo and Mikel. 3 for the price of 2
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
Quote by casualcolCity will be Champions with United as runners up. 3-6 could be anyone from the arse, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs.
Like I said Colm, I agree that City will win the league but I wonder what this Champions league experience will do to them? I think the Europa league (counting chickens I know) could well mess with their fixtures because Thursday games are a load of bollocks IMO. Their next six fixtures make very interesting reading.
Liverpool away Arsenal away (Carling Cup) Norwich home Bayern home (CL) Chelsea away Arsenal home
The scousers will be buzzing after their win at SB so will not be an easy game for them by any means. OK so Mancini may play a weakened (if that's possible with his squad) side at Arsenal but again not an easy game and the gooners will be right up for it. Norwich at home should be a formality but if their confidence is knocked at Anfield and Emirates then you never know! Bayern at home is a toughie. They need a win to have a slight chance of qualifying but Bayern will be all out to knock them out. They won't go easy on them for fear of meeting them later on in the knock-out rounds when they could come back to haunt them IMO. Then they go to your place and if you turn up then it will be another hard game for them. Then it's Arsenal again for a league match. A real hard run of games.
