I'm certainly no lover of Liverpool and I do think they could have handled the Suarez affair much better but we're in danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water here. Having view various forums since last night the absolute hypocrisy of fans of certain clubs is astounding, I think I remember writing with regard to the Terry case that the next scandal regarding a player or club is usually only the Sunday editions away. All sorts of racism, at football and society in general is dispicable but I don't think football fans of any club are ones to be shouting from the ivory towers.

To be fair, for all their faults including mocking the Munich tragedy since the 70s, Liverpool fans have never been perceived as racist. Even with this case from last night some are saying he said "you manc bastard" which is plausible and maybe the lad misheard what was said. However, the actions of LFC over the Evra/Suarez case has certainly not helped in any way and when you whip your fans into a frenzy then the idiots amongst your support will act like cunts. Just look at Collymore on twitter, he has now started reporting the racist abuse he's still getting from Liverpool fans to the police and he is an ex LFC player.

Liverpool had a terrible reputation for racism. when Barnes signed and just before he signed he got loads.

Liverpool didn't have a bad reputation for racism like some clubs did and still do! I can think of a long list of clubs I'd put ahead of Liverpool in the racism stakes to be honest.
all clubs are gonna have racists in their support...we'd be fools to think otherwise (sadley)....thankfully its nowhere near as bad as it once was, but it will never be erradicated 100% from football because it will never be erradicated from society....shame but thats life!

Good point and well made, prejudice is a very complex thing which we can all be susceptible to.
I do agree that some football clubs/work places etc have a culture that, whilst not encouraging racism/prejudice, don't have enough people who will pipe up when someone is talking shit and say 'hang on what you are saying is out of order and wrong'.

Yeah, and now watch the club "cracking down on racism" and ban the lad for life (quite rightly) and yet they wore t-shirts for Suarez and still refuse he did 'owt wrong. So fucking transparent.

The difference being the kid is worth fuck all to Liverpool, somebody else will take his seat at Anfield. Suarez is a 40 million pound asset. Cracking down on racism has its price!
Can't get my head around all this shit, thought we had left this in the late 70's early 80's.i think how lucky i was as arsenal had many good black lads ( the bear ) r.i.p and many others . It never bothered me the colour of a man's skin they were just arsenal in my eye's and nothing else.......
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury

Hence my transparent comment Colm.
You're spot on Andy. I can't imagine we'll see t-shirts in support of the replaceable fan. Funny that.
Every club will have its racist supporters and players that make racist comments. Can remember Peter Schmeichel for Man Utd. Didn't see Sir Alex clamouring to have Schmeichel banned back in 1996 ?
Following a February 1997 match against Arsenal, Schmeichel was accused of racism by Arsenal striker Ian Wright. During the game, Schmeichel and Wright had a number of controversies, and at the end of the game, the two players confronted each other on their way off the pitch. After the game, news emerged of a police inquiry into a November 1996 match between the two clubs, where it was alleged that Schmeichel had made a racist remark. After months of politicising by The FA and The PFA, who wanted a "converted" Schmeichel as their posterboy of the "Kick Racism out of Football" campaign, no evidence was found and the case was dropped.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions

Good effort, but Ian Wright himself said he never heard a racist comment so I'm not sure what else could have been done?
Fergie didn't have a load of t-shirts printed and made the players wear them warming up did he? And where exactly has Fergie been asking for anyone to be banned? It was Dalglish who said whoever was found to be the guilty party should be punished and yet when Suarez was he threw his toys out.
Stop raging about United, chill out a bit and join in the jammimg session with Wenger and Woy
