Quote by nefcbrittons protection is a good pub. the one that used to be a public toilet is worth a visit too
Yep the Britons is a very good pub, a traditional british boozer with good selection of beers. The one that used to be a toilet is called "temple of convienence" and again has a good selection of different ales/beers.
The Temple is frequented by a lot of smelly/sweaty student types at the weekend though so be warned.
In between the these two pubs is a half decent place called http://www.rain-bar.co.uk/ . Owned by JW Lees, its a decent place that has the added advantage of a decent size beer garden at the back (one of the few places in the city where you can sit out).
Perfect for enjoying the Mancunian Sunshine or having a smoke.
That Temple of Convenience place was one I had wanted to visit anyway, will get a few drinks in both the Rain Bar and Britons aswell
Quote by Alex DeLargeMe and a couple of others off here are staying in apartments in Salford. Would like some info on places to drink and good clubs too.
Thanks.
Sankey's is quite decent but can have a pretty awful crowd. Not sure if its still there but there was a club called the Attic which was basic but had a great atmosphere, also Joshue Brookes is meant to be decent.
Hunters BBQ is a quality take away if that's your thing too
Cheers fella.
Went to Sankey's in October. Really good for the music, but you're right about the crowd. I found it strange that so many had unexplainable affiliations to various North American sports teams. Might give one of the other two you mentioned a try. Have you ever been to Sound Control? I was going to go there last time to see Kevin Saunderson, Lee Foss, Kenny Larkin etc. but chose Sankey's instead.

Afraid not mate. I haven't been out in Manchester in over a year so I'm not entirely up to date with what's going on up there.
Quote by OFFHandGet yourself away from the centre and head to Chorlton for Electriks Bar, Decent hangout for all the misfits, Sunday is a must for their roasts and one deck sessions. Decent clued up proper crowd, Not far at all and well worth the visit with everybody gonna be in the area for the gig. NQ there are a few decent hang outs still left but generally a no no for me unless there is some little soiree been planned.
Luke and justin know them well from days of living below luke the crazy ass unabomber
I downloaded an app called time out manchester, and it pinpoints your location, and has recommendations for pubs/ bars and attractions close to where you are. I used it the other week when I was in Manchester, good app. I got it for free in an offer about a month ago, don't know how much it is now.

Ive looked up a few ways whilst bored at work... taxi, tram, public bus or special bus put on for the gig (charging a tenner a head. seems very steep to me).
how far are the tram/bus stops at heaton park from where the show is likely to be held? Having never been there i have no idea.

Would also like to know this. I'm literally only going to see the Roses so will be making my way to Heaton in or around the time they're due to come on.

Bowker vale tram stop is 5 mins walk from Heaton Park and the tram is about 10 mins out of Victoria.
Taxi should be about £10-12 as HP is only 5 miles outside the city centre.
