If it's proved then of course they should. If a member of the public uses racist language in a football ground they get banned for life. Should the same happen to a player or a referee?
theoretically then yes .. ssemingly in practise , no .. but if proven about Clattenburg , see his days numbered as a ref .. obvious two players , Terry & Suarez maybe should have had a harsher punishment , in some eyes , we'll see though ..
Quote: mkj1972 wrote in post #1The referees & linesmen in the Premiership are shocking. Two big games today & the officials get big calls wrong in both of them.Suarez goal disallowed nothing wrong with it cost Liverpool 2 points & Chicharito goal clearly offside. Are the officals biased towards certain teams or just useless? Thoughts please.
Sterling should have had a second yellow card, Suarez should have been sent off for the foul on Distin and Jags got lucky with a yellow instead of a red and Gerrard should never of had the freekick in the first place. So yes, I think the refs are useless.
the torres second yellow was horrendous but it's good that the ref - a cunt - was prepared to effectively send him off for diving. if this is some new refs' directive then it's a good thing. people bang on about the officials butt they're doing a hard job and it's the players who are the cheats so they're bringing it on themselves. blaming a ref for not spotting a dive is missing the point, it's not the officials doing the cheating
Quote: STEVECFC wrote in post #12Problem with todays football is that there is hundreds of camera angles that give exact decisions with split screen analisys .. human judgement means some critical decisions will always be wrong ..
Quote: mkj1972 wrote in post #6I`m sick of football at the moment people go on about players diving & cheating but the biggest cheats of all are the officials.
This along with the farce going on at City at the minute has left completely disinterested in football. The game is rotten to the core.
Would love to see some of the critics on here give it a try. Very difficult job refereeing, all too easy to criticise with the benefit of numerous sky cameras showing you every possible angle. Still Liverpool fans are whining so I suppose some balance has returned.

I think Clattenburg forgot that he had already gave Torres a yellow and then realised he had to send him off though imo, but fair play to him for it if he meant it. He was piss poor refereeing but there will never ever be perfect linesmen/refs will there? unless technology is brought in for offsides i'm sure there will be some way of doing that, surely it makes sense in these modern days, footballs gone a long way maybe not for the best but why not put it in if its easily done?

i think the game would be a lot better if people stopped regarding officials' mistakes as some kind of 'sin'. if a ref wrongly gives, say, handball and a goal is disallowed, is that worse than a player missing an open goal from a yard out? both are honest mistakes. the problem is, as is said above, every single decision is analysed to death. i dont think the officials are any worse than they were 20 or 30 years ago, it's just that the 'viewer' is aware of so much more
Quote: Dempsey wrote in post #47^whats your view on the Van persie and Cabaye incident then
It wasn't as bad as you lot make out. It certainly wasn't a proper elbow job, more a case of Persie telling the French mardarse that he wasn't having his space. Of course Cabaye felt something brush his face and so decides to act like he'd been assaulted. But hey, that's footballers today I suppose.
Cloughie said it best in an interview with John Motson...
Fans and pundits criticise referees too much when a referee has 2/3 seconds to make a decision while we have video replays and can watch it over and over again...

Of course and any sane individual knows that. What is cringeworthy is the loons talking about the FA being corrupt and that United get all the decisions because of brown envelopes etc etc ZZZZzzzzzzz. If the game is corrupt then why do they bother watching? And remember, the refereeing before United started winning titles was perfect, no one else ever got decisions going for them.
