Thought ied spend my entire life in or around east dene, place isnt the same anymore, no comunity, all the pubs closed. its like being a man with no country. Mind you rotherham on a whole has gone down the shitter. Enough so im considering moving to barnsley.
Cracking thread.... Proud of my roots, made me what I am today .. Me Mother still lives in the same house I grew up in love going back to just to reminisce ... Remember hearing me old man running up the stairs after the old bill had been, I tried to jump out my bedroom window only to hit the washing line and subsequently winding myself and making a right cunt of my escape... Happy days Every cunt knew each other back in them days, no community spirit is there now
Marshfield Ross. Although it is a different place altogether nowadays with most of the houses and flats privately owned through the right to buy scheme. Was a bit tasty in the 70s though and Marshfield v Alton Street was a yearly event on the Georges.

Yeah I can imagine it's nothing like it was! my mate got glassed a few Saturdays ago by a lad from Marshfield..completely unprovoked as well..he's left with permanent scarring! don't know if you saw it in the Chronicle.
I came from Acton in Wrexham N Wales which was a mixtre of council and private housing, great atmosphere, mixture of old and families and then three miles down the road was Queens Park a complete hell hole voted the third toughest estate in the mid 80s. They named it Caia Park to make it sound more Welsh and then they had the three day riots against the Iraqis. It was rough in the 80s now it is strewn with junkies and ex jail bait. Some real gentleman and hard cases come out of there though, they've through millions at it but as my old man says "you can't polish a turd"
