i borrowed 'the damage done' off a mate (raymondo), which is about a drug smugglers time in a thai prison which i haven't got round to reading yet. but it looks very good and eye opening.
Great read and very shocking. I can't get my head around how it must feel to be in one of those hellholes.
I too am reading the Ranulph Fiennes book. Bloke is a beast!
Have a look at a book called Marching Powder by Rusty Young and Thomas Mcfadden, its also about a drug smugglers time in prison, but in Bolivia. Amazing

Just finished reading 'No way down' by Graham Bowley. Absolutely astonishing. It's the story of how the disaster in 2008 unfolded on K2. On this particular day 30 climbers headed for the summit from the highest camp and 9 of them lost their lives. Two others, including an Italian fella who spent two nights on the mountain above 25,000ft without shelter, lost their toes from frostbite. These climbers are a different breed
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
Have a go at The Screwtape Letters, about an exchange of letters between a demon and his novice demon nephew, by CS Lewis. There is no namby-pamby Narnia here.
"Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten" – Gucci Family Slogan.
Half way through 'First Light' by Geoffrey Wellum. The story of a teenager flying a Spitfire during the Battle of Britain and beyond. I've read many books about fighter pilots from both World wars but this one seems to be a little different. Trying to get your head around what this kid was doing in 1940 in the skies of Southern England is mind-blowing actually. What is that phrase? 'Game fucker'......this was one game fucker amongst many game fuckers of the time.
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
I recently read this. Booker prize winner in 2003. I thought I'd let the hype die down before I read it. However, this is my first ever booker prize winning book I've read to my knowledge. And whilst not a bad book, I can only conclude 2003 was a weak year for literature.
Saw Into the wild mentioned, great book imo. Just read one flew over the cuckoo's nest for school, which is an absolute classic of course.
fuck me, all I ever read at school was Spot the Dog!
onto this. Needless to say, one more of interest to me but good read so far - and interesting concept in how they've put the book together..
