I am reading Haruki Murakami's new one. I keep putting it down though as the internet has ruined my ability to concentrate on one thing for an extended period of time...
Quote by casualcolThe Fall of Yugoslavia - saw this recommended by fellow fourmite Kuriousornaje and took note. A subject that interests me but I know very little about. Hopefully this book, which has gotten great reviews everywhere, will change that.
THE DEVIL.....gangster stephen french... just finished ,good read
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
Don't read as much books as would like, never seem to have the time apart from holidays. Got these three at Xmas and going to try and get going with them. Peter May been recommended from people that read the Ian Rankin/Rebus books.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
Just finished 'The Secret Race'. Anyone with a passing interest in cycling, or sport really, should read it. I know the book is from Hamiltons perspective but I actually felt a little sorry for him in the end. And as well as being a lying, bullying cheat, Armstrong is also a fucking grass! Astonishing.
i abandoned dracula as the diary narration is ridiculous - you wouldn't run through things chronologically if you'd seen a baby getting eaten or a man slithering down a brick wall. to the other extreme with tony cascarino's autobiog which someone got me years ago. finished it, it's alright. now i'm giving the picture of dorian gray a bash.
Anyone on here read the 'Ideas From Massimo Osti' book yet? Just ordered myself yesterday. Know a few of the lads over on OA have had limited editions.
Andy van der Meijde. Old player from Ajax, Inter and Everton. Was an talent years ago, in the Ajax youth. Also some good matches for Ajax 1, and 17 matches for The Netherlands. In four years for Everton he plays 20 matches. Drink/booze, drugs and women was nearly his death in Liverpool........... Interesting book, with real life stories!
Currently reading 'The Boys of Summer' by Roger Kahn. Combination of a sports book and autobiography about the author growing up with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Great book so far.
Just finished reading Suedehead by Richard Allan, good read but the print was missing from the last few pages so found it on kindle and was recommended Lemon Socks by Trevor Coote, again about a suedehead/ex skinhead, which I'm reading at the moment and is turning out to be a pretty good read.
One of my Christmas presents. You'd think a book about the history of tactics and formations would be fairly dull, but its well written and is a good read.
The Grass Arena by John Healy. Saw a programme on Sky Arts about the author a while back which was a good watch. The book is not as good as I hoped after the first few chapters but it may pick up. Its an autobiography; tough upbringing, alcoholism, prison, army, boxingand then he became an as author and chess champion. A big chunk will be about his homelessness though.
