Any recommendable books that you're reading at the moment?
I'm ready loads as I'm at uni, a lot of the methological texts are a bit boring but some of the stuff are very interesting, especially the criminology ones are right up my street and will probably interest most people.
I had a voucher for Amazon so treated myself with a copy of italian crime fiction writer Andrea Camilleri's Excursion to Tindari from his Inspector Montalbano series. The setting is Sicily, with all it's mafia secrets, good food and exotic women. Montalbano is a very funny character and the books are very "entertaining" considering the genre. The Montalbano series are highly praised as some of the best modern crime fiction, up there with Mankell, Rankin and them, very recommendable.
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
Go The Management for me xmas from the bird and I'm about 3/4 of the way through it. Its about great, or good, scottish football managers. Well written and well researched. So far the best bit of the book for me has been the bit about Jim Mclean of Dundee united. He comes across as a man with massive regrets about how he led his life while manager then chairman of Dundee United and basicallly says if he had his time again he would do things very differently. This really surprised me as I always thought that he would be a man who would regret absolutly nothing about his life.
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one
I've read some of Camilleri's books and there was a good tv version over Christmas. If you like that try Michael Dibdin's Aurelio Zen books (also on tv at the moment) or Donna Leon's Brunetti books.
I'm reading 'Ghostwritten' by David Mitchell. Not the fella off Peep Show but 50 or so pages in, very good. He wrote Cloud Atlas which is probably his best known.
Got these as Christmas present (asked farther christmas for)
Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know by Ranulph Fiennes Half way through this in 2 days which is lightning fast for me. Ranulph is a man machine his life is mental.
screw jack- hunter s thompson not started reading yet but read most of his other stuff and the guy is a genius
The gems in the eye shine in the most irrelevant places but then again in the relevant impartially.
Was going to sink my teeth into the diaries of a drug fiend, but i just dont get the time to read and find myself reading ahead of myself so fuck it off

Been reading a few of R.J. Ellory's, started with a Quiet Belief in Angels but A Quiet Vendeetta and A Simple Act of Violence are very good also. Reading Saints of New York at the moment.
i borrowed 'the damage done' off a mate (raymondo), which is about a drug smugglers time in a thai prison which i haven't got round to reading yet. but it looks very good and eye opening.

Great read and very shocking. I can't get my head around how it must feel to be in one of those hellholes.
I too am reading the Ranulph Fiennes book. Bloke is a beast!
Last one and I've done his entire novel back-catalogue.
Bordering on obsession. Probably do all his short-stories and none-fiction next.
Read loads and loads of classic literature last year. Loads of beat stuff, kerouac, ginsberg, hunter thompson etc. Then started going further back. Albert Camus - The outsider is probably the best thing I've ever read. Pan by Knut Hamsun, ANYTHING by franz kafka, the metemorphosis is incredible. Utterly comeplling for anyone on an existentialist tip.
