Quote: Peaks wrote in post #75Just caught a bit of classic football on one of the ITV chanels. Wolves vs Shrewsbury FA Cup quarter final 1979, absolute mudbath of a pitch, the place packed, looked fantastic. No one cares about the FA Cup anymore, fans, managers, players, no one. Really can't stand this fielding weakened teams business that has creeped in over the past how many years, FA Cup should be the biggest games of the season! Not Super Sunday shite.
Just to add my thoughts - atmosphere of none league is a big myth, we (York) have just escaped after 8 long dark years and there was nothing romantic travelling to pub and village teams infront of 500 fans and getting dicked. Novelty soon wore off.
Just saw the wolves highlights too that pitch was bad!!!
Be careful what you dream of it may come up and surprise you.
Quote: STEVECFC wrote in post #4I played football as a nipper roo in the 70's , on a pitch where the ball would never bounce , I kicked mud more than leather , wearing boots heavier than me .. Today football is graced on perfect pitches , skills are incredible , and some of the action fantastic to watch .. We have created the evil , and now need to cure it .. The diving , spitting , swearing , play acting - has ruined the game , yellow cards dished out willy-nilly , it's pathetic .. I still love watching football though , beating Arsenal twice this season my highlight ..
But we've lost to all the big teams. Man U,Man city, Blackburn and Bradford mate
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
For me i'd have to say that going to the match is pretty much dead. Season ticket holder for years but not been for 2-3 years, mainly due to Bates, but even when i was still going it wasn't enyoyable. Surrounded by clap happy pricks moaning if you stand up or dare to swear. As for the fun side of it the OB have won and have done for years. Just not worth getting involved. I still fancy doing a few aways but have got out of the habit and to be honest can live without being treated like an animal when at away grounds.
more or less feel the same its more a social thing for me, very rare i make the game, just an excuse for a drink and to see lads i dont see anywhere else, the troubles over for me, unless i know 100% i can get away with it, and those days are gone. still enjoy the odd away game but again more of a social thing
Quote: Chinese_alan wrote in post #64I've been to 1 Walsall home game in 3 years, in the same time i've probably made it to about 6 away games at most....I feel a small guilt about it, but as i grew older my interest in actually watching football dwindled.
I may be part of the problem....Also we're on a good run at the moment....and im considering starting to go to a few games before the end of the season.....But I'll feel a bit of a twat for turning up now the teams fortunes have changed.....But i was there when we got relegated to league 2 etc.....Mixed feelings.
Hey Woz get up to the game on Easter Monday and see an away support take over your ground ,haha just joking mate, tickets flying out, heard they are moving some off your home fans to accommodate all of us,can't wait be a cracking day specially as you playing so well at mo....
What are they doing mate ? Giving you two stands ? It makes pure economic sense in fairness to Walsall, have 1000 empty seats or 1000 paying customers, so fair play to Cov if they are going to fill it !!
I'll hopefully be going......Hopefully !!
Yes mate having the 2 stands, think it equates to 3400,if your about let me know may have a beer..
You getting the train over S? Hopefully there will be a fair few of my mates off to this one, getting my tickets Monday.

Seen the video of your lot going at with Huddersfield in the train station last week. Know a boy that went down for it as well. Fucking mental sentences, although running across tracks and kicking off in a train station with cameras all over to begin with it is a bit idiotic.
Quote: STEVECFC wrote in post #82Is footy dead ? no fookin chance , 2-0 down against the might that is Utd , and could / should have won it in the end .. great game ..
Was going to go down for the game, 11,000 tickets or something with CFC handing 2000 back? Been ages since I've been down, currently unemployed which doesn't help.
I've never left a game early in my puff, well not under my own doing...but it's not hard to see why people do.
The whole "experience" is gubbed, the game is being ruined and with the increasing police presence and now FoCUS up here as well filming away supports constantly takes the little appeal away of actually going and singing, and people shelling out their hard earned for increasing ticket prices to watch over paid playboys roll about on the deck and play act.....
Was over in Germany last month and they have it spot on in so many ways, night and day compared to here.
Was a massive football fan, got involved in the other side of football & lost interest in football because of it. I had a season ticket & never go in. Got banned so can't go no more
However been watching a couple of mon league games & my loves come back. I actually even now watch matches on tv.
Will say watching Feyenoord at there home ground was an experience.
Quote: JamesC wrote in post #74I think there'll be a market for the big all-seater stadiums, £60 tickets, corporate boxes etc. for years to come.
Maybe we should have a system like in Germany where the big sides have 2nd and 3rd string teams that play in the lower leagues. If you want to stand on a terrace, watch at 3pm on Saturday every week, and pay a reasonable entrance fee- you go and watch Man Utd 3. Just a thought anyway.
Well said
I watched Feyenoord/Ajax & it was less than 20 quid

Against Modern Football
Have you been to watch Hyde? Just a guess based on your team mcfc.
We have them in a few weeks anyway but am working, gutted!
I've lost interest to be honest, still have a season ticket but we don't really watch the game like we did when we were younger. Really hope we get into League 2 this season or gates will drop.
