Wow, hold up gentlemen. Talking about taxes one moment, next time i come on we've got talk of hunting deer and sharing out the meat!
Keeping it simple, i know tax avoidance by the rich is a huge issue, i just chose to touch upon the rules the government set out that aren't fair, not the rules that are being found to have loopholes by accountants. For example, giving money to immigrants for children who live overseas yet letting war veterans go homeless isn't fair and that's what's happening in some cases. The rich avoiding tax through loopholes is something the government need to tighten up on. I suppose they both fall into the same level of unfairness and both need sorting out yesterday.
Quote: nothavinit wrote in post #23 The reason unemployment exists is capitalism. Capitalism needs competition in the labour market to keep wages down and it needs a reserve army of labour to replace workers on strike.
Regarding benefit fraud, it's a drop in the ocean when compared to the billions the rich avoid in tax and the billions in unpaid labour. Most people on benefits are not scroungers.
The alternative is planning production democratically according to human need. That way we will consistently raise the standard of living for all instead of a tiny minority at the expense of the rest. Human nature is not static, it is always changing and a reflection of society. It's also worth noting that we lived as primitive communists for 99% of our evolution. Private property was alien to our ancestors, we hunted our means of survival and distributed it fairly. We had to collaborate and share in order to survive in the wild. So you could argue it is in our 'nature' to be communists...
You make good points except for this:
"we lived as primitive communists for 99% of our evolution. Private property was alien to our ancestors, we hunted our means of survival and distributed it fairly"
I doubt it. Maybe if you look at one tribe splitting the meat up after a hunt, or farming the land as best they could. But as soon as those bastards from over the hill tried to come over looking for their share of the Antelope.....
Farming came at around 23:30 on the human history clock. Before that there was no private property, no state, no police, no family as we know it today, no wealth accumulation, it was a primitive form of communism. All well documented by anthropologists in books like Ancient Society.
What he said about Politicians and Voting is spot on!
Subject: 635 Employees
Thought you might find this interesting ......
Unbelievable!! Can you imagine working for a company that only has a little more than 635 employees, but has the following Employee Statistics.
29 have been accused of spouse abuse, 7 have been arrested for fraud, 9 have been accused of writing bad cheques, 17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses, 3 have done time for assault, 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit, 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges, 8 have been arrested for shoplifting, 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits, 84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year,
And collectively, last year alone, they have cost the British tax payer £92,993,748 in expenses!
Which organisation is this?
It's the 635 members of the House of Commons. It's the 635 members of the House of Commons.
The same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.
It's the 635 members of the House of Commons. It's the 635 members of the House of Commons.
What a bunch of crooks we have running our country - it says it all...
And just to top all that they probably have the best 'corporate' pension scheme in the country - whilst trying to ensure thatm everyone else has the worst possible!

I, in my own opinion think stuff like this is very much exaggerated in the press, mind you, it doesn't need to be exaggerated to snowball, It's just one of those things, stick immigration in a newspaper and it'll sell like hot-cakes, same goes for headlines like 'Abused War Veterans'.
At the end of the day its someones choice of Job.....Thats the way i look at the Armed forces, Don't get me wrong i pay my respects on rememberance day like the next man and have the upmost respect for the armed forces, but i look at it this way, if i got injured at work and i couldn't work to pay for my house etc, I'd expect it to be repossessed.....Thats all i have to say on the matter, wont go any further.

That list is a total load of bollocks and has been written about the US Congress, NBA, various other governments, etc. word for word. Here's a bit more information:
As for that figure for expenses- again, total bollocks that would be an average of £146,446 per MP! Only 1 MP spent even half of that last year (shadow Defence secretary, Celtic fan, captain of the MPs football team). All MPs expenses are published, so you could check if you wanted- there's a good breakdown here http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/...ata-interactive

Never really thought about pre-farming society before, will have to check that book out. Cheers.
Eventually any system based purely on capitalist principles is destined to fail. Capitalism basically requires constant economic growth, to ensure infinite growth and therefore profits, from a planet with finite resources.

Thank you James for pointing that out. That one passed me by. Ascertain the truth before spreading things is what I tell others. I myself failed on that one. A good reminder for me.
Most of the politicians are Masons so they'll have very close friends in the police force and court. Not that they're supposed to 'let you off' but who knows.
