Yeah i was getting a bit pissed with all the dum Facebookers praising him as this sort of saint. I was going send a post setting the record straight but my Wife told me not to and said i was being too controversial. Bless her
Can't vow for the accuracy of his credentials as a 'violent womaniser' but if true, as the journo suggests, then where does this leave the 'saint' status.
I've no problem with people making mistakes and then going on to do great things. My issue is with the totally imbalanced media/celebrity response to his death. We've the future king of the country ffs waxing lyrical about his greatness. Is that really appropriate IF he battered his first wife and, at best, had significant links to a military wing of the ANC which went on to kill innocent people?

Got anything that isn't from a conspiracy theory website. no doubt the Illuminati and Bilderberg group were 'backing' him too, hence why his stint inside was 'only' 30 odd years.
Ramsees, pretty sure his womanising is mentioned, though largely brushed over in his biography. Appalling common amongst ANC leaders.

If the allegations are true, it wasn't mentioned once on the (blanket) media coverage that I saw. Should it have been? well, given the superlatives that were being bandied about by everyone who is anyone, I'd have thought in the interests of balance yes it should. At other times, the media make a big (massive) issue of domestic violence and so they should. but this kinda underlines my point a bit.

There was an interesting article in the Telegraph on Saturday about Arsenal's CEO Ivan Gazidis (must admit I'd never heard of him not that means anything really), his father was a white anti-apartheid activist and got banged up and basically intimidated out of SA to arrive in Britain.
I thought this was an interesting take on it :
So what of South Africa now in the wake of Mandela’s death? Like many, Gazidis has noted how history is in danger of being rewritten. “Although I get very emotional, my dad is very matter of fact,” he says. “He admires Mandela, loves him like many others do, but I don’t think he has this pedestal that others have built. There is a new narrative coming out about how we in the West all thought he’s a wonderful human being. That’s not what it was like.

that's it Mart. "History being rewritten". I'm watching it happen around me now over here so can understand this point completely.
