He beat Real Madrid in the cup winners cup in 83(i think) with Aberdeen...

Don't get me wrong, you had to beat a top side to win it but you could get easy draws.
This is the run Liverpool had in 1977 to win the European cup.
1st round - Crusaders 2nd round - Trabzonspor QF - St Etienne SF - Zurich F - Borussia Monchengladbach
You can only beat whose name comes out of the hat.Liverpool quite rightly qualified for the European Cup as Champions unlike these days you can finish 4th & have a crack at the European Cup.When Liverpool won it in 2005 one of the worst Liverpool teams i have ever seen!

Totally agree and like I said, the hardest thing back then was qualifying for it in the first place.
Lets not forget that United have played in three of the last four finals. The fact that the best club side I have ever seen have beaten them twice in two of those finals should not be forgotten. The Liverpool side that Paisley managed didn't come up against a side like this Barcelona team.
Alec Ferguson is visiting the Emirates..Arsene W tells him that foreign footballers are more intelligent than home grown players..." I dont think so " says Alec..Arsene calls Robin van Persie over "Your fathers son is not your brother who is he?" "oh thats easy" says RVP "its me"...
Next day Alec calls Wayne Rooney in.."Tell me son,..your fathers son is not your brother who is he"? Wayne thinks and says" can I think about it boss and come back to you?" That night he asks Colleen the same question.."I'm not sure" she says "Phone Rio he'll know".Wayne phones Rio and asks same question, Rio answers "Thats easy its me"
Next day Wayne goes to see Fergie " I've worked it out, its Rio Ferdinand" "Get off you daft bugger" says Fergie "its Robin van Persie"
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
Quote by Ed68IHe's been fortunate in the kids that came through and the cash he's had to spend but the cash thing has been the same since back to the 70's.
He did have a great crop of youngsters come through in the early 90s but that doesn't guarantee anything. It was Fergie who instilled the will to win and never say die attitude into those youngsters.
As for the money. Well have a look here http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league-t...92-to-2011.html and you'll see he hasn't really spent that much in the grand scheme of things considering he's delivered twelve league titles in those years. You can disregard City in that list but look at Uniteds net spend compared to Liverpool and Spurs who haven't won the league between them in the same time frame. A lot of people just trot out the money line but the truth is rather different.
Come on man, we can't talk about net spend when prices have changed so much - especially with what was paid for Ronaldo.
I don't care that much but Schmeichal, Irwin, Pallister, Keane, Webb, Cantona, Cole are a few names I can think of being signed before anything was won.
I could be wrong on a fair few of those so apologies if I am. I'm not trying to belittle what he's achieved but think some perspective is needed.
Same thing occurred in the 70s and Liverpool paid the most for players like Rush, Dagleish, bloke who looked like Rush, Souness etc. Again I could be wrong but don't want to use google for facts.
Bottom line is teams that have won trophies have spent money - it just keeps getting considerably more money each decade!
You still have to motivate and organise the team no matter what players you have.

Plus a fair whack of that money was generated by the club being successful rather than it being pumped in by investors...

I agree that net spend can be skewed, hence my remark about City, but you cannot dismiss net spend over 19 years between clubs. He has built four different sides over them years and has spent the same as Liverpool and Spurs. Those two have won zero titles and United have won twelve.
Schmeichel, Irwin and Cantona cost peanuts if truth be told. Andy Cole was signed after titles had already been won and cost £7Million. Liverpool paid over £8Million at the same time for Stan Collymore. I know it hurts but Fergie has not spent as much as people think.
As for the Ronaldo money. He was the 2nd best player in the world when United sold him so of course he was going to generate a huge fee. Are you forgetting the £30Million Liverpool got for Alonso and the £50Million they got for Torres? There is £80Million right there.
There's no denying that SAF is the greatest manager ever produced in this country. His record is second to none & is an absolute legend at Aberdeen. There's not a manager on earth that could've achieved what he did at a club like ours.
I've seen his hairdryer moments first hand on more times than i care to remember, i was on the books at Aberdeen late 70's early 80's & i remember playing against Dundee on the all weather pitch (car park) across from Pittodrie. I was playing left midfield, i'd scored a hatrick & we were up around 8 v 0 at halftime (the game finished 18 v 0). He wasn't normally present at our games but he turned up & gave some of us intructions at halftime, i didn't take any notice of what he was saying so was promptly hauled off, early bath & sent home. I didn't last much longer at Pittodrie after that along with a few other very talented players that felt his wrath. I think out of the 26 players that were in the U16 sqaud at the time i got chucked out, only one player made it on pro forms.
He is the supreme micro-manager, takes an interest in every age group at his club, thats why he has unearthed so many great players. We'll never see his like again in Aberdeen - Legend

No, it's not because he's 'the best manager ever' it's because he's a miserable cunt when he loses a game and doesn't have the decency to have an interview after the match but when he wins something the cunt laps it up.

That's why i dont like him.
A manager should be miserable as fuck when he loses,
not many managers will ever say better team won , and yes , every manager should be pissed off if his team loses ..
Sorry Dave , but Wenger is someone who blames everyone and everything else other than him or his team , very sour faced cunt - not well liked either by other managers ..

I`m a big Barca fan but not sure if they are the best club side ever AC Milan & Real Madrid could arguably lay claim to that too.
