Alex ferguson's 25th anniversary at manchester united this week. Love him or hate him you cant deny he is one of if not the greatest club manager of all time.37 major honours in his time at utd, show me another manager at the same tier of football who can match that?
never one to hide my dislike of Utd , but my opinion is he is the Greatest manager of all time , an incredible man , met him at Aberdeen airport and got him to sign my boarding pass , he noticed my Chelsea pen , sniggered and said ' for fucks sake ' .. no doubting his proven talent to find and nurture young players , still has a massive appetite for the game , LEGEND !!
can't see how anyone couldn't have respect for his football achievements. In some respects, his achievements at Aberdeen seem even more incredible with each passing year. Love him or hate him, he'll be sorely missed when he goes.
my claim to fame is scoring a hat-trick in front of him at The Cliff. Yep, I might have been the original 'little Pea' except I was too big, too slow and took 15 chances to score 1....
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
Yes he is a great manager but remember he has been at United 25 years so at a club of its size he should win a fair few trophies!! He endured a bad time at the start with many of the Old Trafford faithful calling for him to be sacked! Mark Robbins scored a goal against Forest in the FA Cup to save his job,United went on to win it & the success continued. Bob Paisley won 3 European Cups 77,78 & 81 he is also the only manager in history to have won 3 European Cups - Fergie 2 in 25 although his domestic success is unrivaled.

Clearly Ferguson has put off his retirement as he is striving to add another Champions league to the portfolio, obviously he feels 2 in over 20 years has fallen short of what they could have won.

Mention Fergie and Liverpool fans appear shouting Paisley. Paisley inherited a great side and achieved incredible success. But the hardest thing about winning the European cup in the 70s and 80s was getting into it in the first place. Much easier to be drawn against the Finnish champions than the runners up/3rd placed teams in the big leagues. Fergie inherited a mediocre squad and completely rebuilt the whole football club and turned it into the monster you see today.
Fergie isn't just the best British manager of all time, he is streets ahead of the rest. 48 trophies and counting

Yeah right he took over a good side in 1974 with Keegan & co there. So he inherited the likes of Daglish & Souness No he signed them in 1977 & 78 also selling Keegan to Hamburg in 77 so The European Cups won in 77 & 78 by Paisley were won with some of Shanklys signings but also some astute Paisley signings too.
Also who did Liverpool beat in 81 Real Madrid hardly a small club are they??? Fergie has done well in 25 years but 2 European Cups is a poor return even he admits that himself. As i said before his domestic success is unrivaled.

Oh I remember Dalglish signing for Liverpool, I was gutted he didn't sign for United. Tommy Docherty said he wasn't worth £440,000

Don't get me wrong, you had to beat a top side to win it but you could get easy draws.
This is the run Liverpool had in 1977 to win the European cup.
1st round - Crusaders 2nd round - Trabzonspor QF - St Etienne SF - Zurich F - Borussia Monchengladbach

There there there, now breathe. No one was rushing you for a reply. I hope the dog enjoyed it's walk. See now you've said it, you think he's a cunt, do you feel better now, like a weights been lifted from your shoulders.
What the fuck has my location got to do with you thinking that SAF is a cunt and you have ne respect for him personally even though you don't know him. Plenty os sqyalls coming through here at the moment, wind is up to about 38 knots, hope it gets up about another 7knots then they have to downman the platform. No dog to walk.

Have to agree Vasque. In my teens and early 20s I had a pathological hatred of Man U and Ferguson and it got me into a lot of trouble. As I've 'matured' I've come to respect United and their great history, their old school fans and Ferguson in particular. Nobody but nobody builds teams and rebuilds teams like him. And he knows exactly when to get rid of players, wind down player's careers, extend players careers. And, of course, the list of trophies throughout his career, not just at United speak for themselves. The greatest manager of all time in my opinion.
