Quote by VictorinoxThere is actually a big Ultra scene in England but it is mostly in lower leagues and largely underground. York ultras Jorvic Reds are one of the most known, however, weirdly, Barrow's Ultra group... Ultras Barrovia 2008 are one of the most active in Britain aznd do large scale stuff most games and ever big game. I will upload some pictures later. Coming from a different side of terrace culture i will never be an ultra and it isnt my thing, however i respect what they have done for the club and atmosphere... Considering Barrow isnt the nicest place to come to in the first place, the ultras make it even more intimidating. I know the leaders of the group and most in it and a lot of organisation goes into it and fundraising and most risk bans ect doing it when letting off flares, smokes and other stuff but it looks great and makes it sound amazing. It is also fully adapted to English culture and everything they do relates to Barrow and its working class northern roots which is good. Most people automatically think europe and silly drums and stuff when they think ultras, its actually a good movement and important factor in terrace culture.
Pictures to come when i have time!
I remember at Chester in '09 you let off a few smokes when you scored, remember reading in the paper not long after it that the lad got a 3 year FBO for it. Looked good though.
Hi Lads. Haven't posted on here for a while and have quite been missing it :D Hope everybody is well.
Personally I love ultras at football, they defo lift the atmosphere a great deal. I do not think its works in England though. You guys have and will always be your own.
Don't know if York and Oxford are active anymore but they used to do some big ones, York let off a good load of smokes at new Wembley a few years ago as well which looked good.
York aren't active any more from what I understand.
Never going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I've been involved at Oxford since 2009 and we've done a fair bit.
Sorry but you can't compare European Ultras to the groups in England who are trying to start something out of nothing. Especially when the rules in Europe regarding banner displays etc are different to over here. The new "Ultra" scene popping up in Britain will never be like their European cousins because our rules surrounding football and so called "health & safety" destroy or stagnate any attempt these up and coming groups come up with to show there love and support for their local club.
I would love it, if in Britain we could be more like our European counter parts but over the top Policing, ticket prices and health & safety would never let it happen.
Lads from Middlesbrough have been banned for setting off flares while standing on an open terrace, Middlesbrough Ultra group Red Faction have to pay to fire proof there banners even though the stadium is a Non smoking one, and even when they do fire proof them and get the correct certificates the club f*cks them over.
I hate modern football.
Confusion in her eyes that says it all. She's lost control.....
Sit Down, Shut Up, Prawn Sandwhich Eating Wankers is the Football scene in England now days! The atmosphere is dead in our lifeless bowls we call stadiums, you try and create atmosphere/banter and you have your own fans pointing the finger at you when the stewards come. Scum!

Simple banner Barrow did against Darlo last week (Darlo's last game as a club).... This picture actually started 'trending' when it was posted after the game and was mentioned on SkySports and other programmes.
Crying shame about what has happened/happening to Darlo. A Truly sad day for football when a 128 year old club goes under due to greed and mismanagement!

Green Brigade ( Celtic ) is the best group at this moment in UK. Very loud support, and in the hole stadium at Celtic Park. Great atmosphere..............
