It's all going on now. Hope it doesnt spread North. Quite happy for it to remain a southern thing.
Could understand them protesting over one of their own being shot, but dont understand them taking it out on their own - local businesses and transport etc. Mad.
Hard against hard simply doesn't work although it might seem like the best solution to some. No need to refer to any specific historical events 'cause it should be pretty obvious.
That being said, senseless violence and looting is despicable. And an annoying side factor is that it takes away the focus from the problems that lie behind the protesting.

Old Bill need to sort out all this shit. Thats the problem with UK nowadays we're to PC. Get in there police, riot police, army whatever sort the fuckers out. All these cunts make excuses always blaming someone else. Need to get off there arses and sort there own lives out.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
An ex met commander was interviewed on beeb news24 earlier and made a good comment - wheres the higher up police chief inspectors etc wearing their riot gear alongside average bobbies?

They're too busy arselicking their superiors or setting up some speed camera bullshit. In all seriousness, I think stronger force needs to be implemented. The police need to make a statement that any looters/ rioters will be dealt with force. I think the reasons for this is a mixture of mindless morons, genuinely aggrieved communities with what's happened and poor areas with a chance to nick a telly.
I don't understand why they keep calling them protestors? I can see how one blurred into another on Saturday, but now? This is just loads of lads on their summer jollies going on the rob.
You can talk all you want about the reasoning behind it, I don't buy the "nothing to do" mantra... It's fucking London! There's shit loads of things to do. You don't see it happening in Stoke do you? Now there really is nothing to do in Stoke.
My reckoning? It's the old cliche, but I really do think there are economic reasons behind it, whether they're conscious or not. I'm not saying that for a single second any of those people are out there, setting Greggs on fire, thinking anything more than "this is fun", but it's been proven time and time again that when you have such a split between rich and poor in one city, tensions run high.
I also think we're seeing the outcome of the first generation brought up in abject global consumerism. Buy, buy, buy, get money, buy, got no money? find some, buy, buy. We're constantly shown the people we should admire, those who have cheated and stolen their way to the top. "Look at this mans silly car, he's written his name on it in gold. Respect him." "Look at this bag, it costs 3 million, isn't the owner someone to admire!? What a wonderful human being.". Roman Abramovic asset stripped from the top end of companies (well, soviet industry) and ended up with a football team. This lot are simply emulating that by asset stripping, but from the bottom, ending up with an odd pair of trainers, a broken Nokia, and a bit of time inside... Probably.
Of course, the reason should not, and does not, excuse the behaviour. It helps to stop this from happening again. Those who are at it now should be faced with the full force of the law.
Oh, and I've just heard Simon Hughes say that 25% of all of the police force in England and Wales operate in London. How mad is that!?
Brilliant post mate. It's the same old story over and over again, and it's not just going on in the UK. Any place where there is a divide as big as the one in London things like this will happen.

They should just shoot them in the faces. They'll go back to their flats and sit and starve for days cause they've burnt down the shops they used to go to.
Pictures on BBC news of someones furniture shop up in blaze, feel sorry for the guy sitting at home watching that.
some lads tried to knock over the parking mater outside our flat in lewisham. they gave up but a fella in a car came along and give it a nudge. since then a few people have been posing on it for pics.

It's not all about money. Just had two brothers on sky news and their family business that had been there since the 1800's had been burned to the ground.

Yeah, that is a real shame like. Got to feel for people like that. As I say though, insurance will pay for a full restoration.
