Some mob of Millwall out last night must been 7/800 strong by the end of the night. Little mobs from all over South London meeting in Eltham, Bermondsey and finally Lewisham. I've seen some large firms at football but last night around 10/11 was something else.
there was no one in lewisham last night. people were tweeting and writing on websites a load of rubbish. there was some on eltham high street and then (might be the same lot) further down towards lee - the yorkshire greyhound pub - but no one in lewisham, where it was 2 for 1 on coppers all night.

At around 11 last night there were a lot of Millwall on Eltham Road up to Lee High Road. Certainly on the border between Greenwich and Lewisham.
Seems to be a few stories coming out from all the madness now, the 90 year old old barbour in Tottenham, some bloke almost stomped to death in Crawley, and this story from Brum click (yes I know its the Daily Mail)
Watching sky news last night noticed the policing wasn't very aggressive, unlike at the footy where they will give you a smack with the stick for standing the wrong way!
Quote by VotedockerThink the scale and speed of all this has caught lots of people unawares. The reaction to getting out on the streets to defend them is (I'd have thought) because it was shown that the police were unable. I think most people would have been expecting plod to have been getting stuck in to these lowlifes and protecting innocent people rather than having to do it themselves.
Yup. If the police had a reasonable grounds to believe that these boys were involved in any sort of criminal activity they should have arrested them, using reasonable force if necessary - clearly here, there was no resistance, so no force whatsoever was necessary. Then the justice system could deal with them fairly. The police simply dishing out heavy beatings on the street... No, it makes a complete mockery of justice and democracy.
Why would that be shocking 'even if they were looters' ? They got a bit of a dig, nothing special in the middle of a complete breakdown in law and order. This morning the old fella who tried stopping some lowlife setting things on fire and got murdered for his troubles. A 68 year old man beaten to death.

Which is more shocking ?
It's not a competition, but as mentioned above the police aren't their to hand out punishment beatings.
some guy has been given 6 months for stealing a bottle of water, but someone only got 22 weeks for possion of a chainsaw and strimmer worth over £100...
What a waste of money sending these people to prison, which costs £112.32 a day per head. Get 'em out on the streets paying back the community for the same amount of time they'd be in prison. People should only go to prison if they are a danger to the public, it's hardly a punishment is it.
Quote by VotedockerDidnt mean it to sound like a competition, but a few scrotes getting a clip is hardly shocking in the scheme of what was going on is it
It is pretty shocking when you consider that they are in a position of responsibility and they the people who are meant to prevent such incidents. Yes, there has been a lot of horrible shit going down, but surely the police handing out what appears to be random beatings in the street to boys is only going to worsen an already volatile situation.
Its about time police started getting heavy. Some of the low life deserve a good hiding. What happens when most of them get arrested night in the cells , charged and then a slap on the wrists.
Police in other countries don't fuck about. In many other countries the police would have been out with guns etc.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
